CarolRoy Posted January 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2012 Has anyone recently rented a car at Puerta Maya Pier? Who did you rent from? Was it a hassle? Did you get extra insurance? Where did you fill up with gas - did you have to go into San Miguel? We are just thinking about getting in the car and heading to the beaches down the coast and up the other side and trying to avoid the town of San Miguel. But we will have to fill up before we return the car. Any info would be helpful. 2012 – Carnival Conquest – Feb. – W. Caribbean 2011 – Westerdam HAL – Dec. – E. cruisemainiac Posted January 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2012 There's a gas station near the pier. Make sure you check the sign at the station to see what the exchange rate is, in early Dec. it was $12 pesos to a dollar, so $10 will buy you $120 pesos of gas. I would recommend full insurance, why take any chances.
