ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted January 30, 2012 #26 Share Posted January 30, 2012 anyone with news on when she is leaving again? I would assume as soon as they disembark the passenger, they would be on their way.
Corntea Posted January 30, 2012 #27 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks, this is so sad! I know all the other passengers are inconvieniences, but this costs Carnival BIG $$$$$ and that poor lady. Think of how we all count down our cruises, this poor lady and her family!
5waldos Posted January 30, 2012 #28 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Looks like the ambulance just drove away- or assumong it was the ambulance. Would think they would take off as soon as they can pull up the gangplanks again. Wow- looks like she is off!
Cindy Posted January 30, 2012 #29 Share Posted January 30, 2012 She's leaving (again). Question...it was kind of hard to see on the cruise cam because it's so blurry at night, but it dodn't look like the ship ever tied up to the pier. Can they hold the ship to the pier to disembark a small number of people using thrusters, or did they tie up and I just couldn't see it?

Yes they can If they had to tie up it would require the union:eek: If the patient is strapped in they are fine
5waldos Posted January 30, 2012 #31 Share Posted January 30, 2012 It looked like there was a pilot boat between the Magic and the pier. Or was I seeing things? Just looked again- think I was seeing things.

jonbgd Posted January 30, 2012 #34 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Btw do you know how difficult it is to break a femur if she didnt have osteoporosis She would have had to slip on a tread(stair) walking up it and land face down with her femur hitting the lip of the tread

I didn't even think of that aspect of it. I wonder how much it cost to turn around and come back when you consider fuel, pilot, and opening the port facility? 5waldos Posted January 30, 2012 #36 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Probably less than sending out the Coast Guard. But I could be wrong about that.

In all seriousness.....hopefully she is OK and not too many passengers are asking for their money back already for the delay...
Sargent_Schultz Posted January 30, 2012 #40 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Maybe a hit and run mobi? It won't have any impact on the ship schedule.
jhale Posted January 30, 2012 #41 Share Posted January 30, 2012 They'll make the ports for sure. We were 4 hours out when we had to turn around on the Triumph last October, still made it everywhere on time.
