Autoprogresso all inclusive beach excursions....

My gf and I heading on a cruise on may 5th and progresso is the first stop. We are looking at the all inclusive beach resort for $45 through autoprogresso compared to $79 through Carnival. I'm just curious if its worth the money as far as what drinks and food are included. Also would we have time to do some shopping in Merida afterwards. Thanks forany help.

We are doing this on our May 28 cruise through Autoprogreso. I've spoken with others who say this is a great excursion and well worth it. We have used AP in the past for other tours and have always had great service with them. As far as Merida, I don't know. I emailed AP a while back to ask about departure times for this excursion and I believe they told me there were 2 different times depending on when your ship arrives. I'd just ask them. They are usually good about responding to my emails.

I really don't think you can fit both into a seven hour port call. If it's the AP I stayed in several yrs ago, the food was very so-so. Drinks were good and a beautiful pool.

 

Your choice; resort or culture in a beautiful, vibrant city from the 1500's, of a million folks.

Going to Merida involves driving through traffic. Merida is a city of a million people and getting downtown will take some time, which people often don't think about.

Planning this excursion for 4 adults and 3 kiddos... in February 2013 Very concerned about the beach area... want a nice beach for the grandkids and kids.. They have never seen the Carribean .... want it to be an excellent experience

We just did this excursion last week and felt it was totally worth the money with the included bus ride there as long as you plan on drinking. The beach was honestly not very impressive...I felt the water was pretty close to Galveston water...ok not that bad but not great.....we still had a great time. The resort is beautiful and the pool is awesome. They had fresh coconuts that they were cutting open and told us to go grab one and add some rum to the coconut water....we added a splash of pineapple and it was great! :D

Oops one more thing...there will be no time for any additional stops...the bus got us at 10 and picked us up at 1:50 to be sure we were back at the boat in plenty of time...I think the boat left at 330

Thanks Delrios 80. I just don't know what else to do with 2 kiddos and a baby in Progresso.. shopping is not high on the list..If there are any other suggestions out there, please let me know.. ;)

The description on AP's website says there is some opportunity with this tour to do some exploring of ruins. How accurate is this? My wife and I both want to see some ruins as well as hit the beach.

Yes its acurate...they ask while ur on the bus if anyone would like to visit some ruins to stay on the bus when we get to the resort and they will take you. I believe they said it was 45 mins you would b there and they would bring u back to the resort afterwards. We didnt do the ruins but some ppl did stay on the bus.

Can you tell me if you booked this in advance through the AP website? I can't seem to find an option on thier site for just the resort only.

I did book this directly with Auto Progresso. They did it as a PayPal transaction. You just pick the excursion you want and how many people you want to pay for and take care of it that way. It was quite easy actually.

We have been to Progresso several times but usually take tours and have not been on the beach. At the end of the pier the water seems to be clear but I think this area is still the Gulf and not yet the Carreabean.
