cabin behind bump

Cabin 1621 should be fine. We sailed the Eclipse last Feb. in cabin 1247 - one deck below. We were actually on the angled part of the hump and had one of the large balconies. We weren't able to see directly forward - if you think of the view forward like noon on a clock - you should be able to see about 10 to 11 o'clock forward from your cabin. If it's really important to you to be able to see directly forward, this might not be the cabin for you. We didn't find it a problem at all.

We loved the location close to the elevators and convenient to just about everything. There was no noise from the elevator lobby and we were closer to it than you will be. Don't know about sun and shade - we had some of both. We liked this location so much we booked it again for this Feb. - just a few more days now - can't wait! :)

Really am wondering now if this is ok. Cabin 1621 is right behind the hump so we wont be able to look forward from our balcony. Where is the best for views, sun, shade, not noisy please

Hi Buranogal,

You are correct in saying that Cabin # 1621 on the S-Class ships is not able to see forward... as it is on the "straight-away" behind "the hump"

On our cruise we were in Cabin # 1120... which is the fist cabin behind "the hump"... our view was of the side and aft of the ship... if we went out to the furtherest corner of our balcony, we were able to look around the partition and see forward... this is the ONLY cabin that is behind "the hump" able to do so (because it sticks out)... after that, no views fully forward (or to almost 12 o'clock as BOILER FAN has described... everyone else back of us would see slightly less... be it to 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock, depending on what side of the ship you were on)

If you can get a cabin on the angle of the hump or one on the angle you will have the widest range of view (say 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock)

Midship I feel is nice because you are close to the Elevators (convenient to everything) and it is very quiet (at least it was on Sky Deck - 10th Floor, where you are close to the Suites, and there are cabins only on the floors above and below)

Midship is also an excellent location if anyone happens to suffer from Motion Sickness / Sea Sickness (NOTE they are not the same thing). We had EXTREMELY rough weather from Ft L to San Juan (Gale Force Winds, Beaufort 8 to 10), and Midship was by far the best place to be. Upfront the worst (saw the floor raising and falling at least a foot one night in the Sky Lounge)... rear was just ok... definitely less movement midship !!

As for sunshine, shade etc... from what I could see the Cabins fore and aft of us got sun and shade totally based on the weather and where the sun was. The advantage to a larger balcony (be it the angles off "the hump" midship or "the bump" near the front of the ship, as well as those at the aft of the ship over looking the wake) is that the balconies are deeper... so you may have sun at the front near the railing, and shade back towards the cabin patio door.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!
