Disney Cruise w/ 18 Month Old?

Hi-

We are planning a Disney trip with our baby who will be 18 months at the time of the trip. After watching a show on the Disney cruises on the Travel Channel, we're thinking about taking a short cruise for part of the trip.

Any thoughts on cruising with an 18 month old? We've been on several cruises before, but just as a couple. Since she's too young for the kid's programs, is there enough for us to do with her to keep her entertained?

And at what age does DCL charge for a 3rd person? I was looking at some pricing, and it looks like an 18 month old would be free...do we pay port charges for her though?

Thanks so much!

Howdy,

On disney, we took a 2 year old and he had a ball. The favorite thing to do was the mickey pool. One of the ears is for toddlres only, all it does is have small jets of water here and there and the kids all loved it. Swim diapers required, of course. Then there is the nursery, first come first serve, reservations done one day at a time, it's $6. per hour, minimum 2 hours. They have lots of toys for the kids to play with and the counselors do interact with the kids. Our grandson actually liked the live stage shows. He liked the music, all the movement and bright colors and of course the characters when they came out. Mr. Toads race is good too. Mostly younger kids and parents can help them move their frogs when they are younger. I don't know how long your chid's attention span is, but they usually have one animated movie in the theater that is filled with little kids, so no one thinks snything about the extra talking or moving about. Of course you can walk out if you need too. There are lots of character meet and greets throughout the cruise too. We walked our little guy down by the night clubs and he loved to sit in the large port hole windows and watch the water go by. For an excursion, the glass bottom boats are a kids favorite because of all the bright colored fish. some boats are all glass floors, so it's easy to see, others have a small wall you look over, but it's easy to hold up a small child to see.

Have a magical cruise, I hope this helps you a little.
