Marseille or Aix or both????

We did Marseilles in the morning and Aix in the afternoon-both inexpensive ship tours. We had an hour in between to eat lunch. We liked Aix better then Marseilles. Marseilles is a larger town-more commercial-service staff have a reputation for being grumpy there and we did experience this, but Notre Dame de la Gard is beautiful of course. Aix is small, quaint and friendly-the boutique shopping is great and there are many interesting sights linked to the French Revolution. I would do both (to see the contrast) or else just do Aix.
