James&Rob Posted April 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2005 I will try to do this in parts and I will try to give a detailed review if you have any questions I will try to answer just ask Here we go We arrived at the terminal at approx 11am doors open at 1130 and by 1145 we were on the lido eating lunch so embarktations went very well no problems the desk personall were very friendly and fast .we went to lido for lunch It was very good and the crew was very friendly and guess what we meet HUNKY DORY right off the bat what a guy he will ask you name the first day and then the rest of the cruise he will speak to you by name. at approx 1:30 they announced that the cabins were ready so we went to our cabin 6120 on upper Verandah it was a verandah cabin the cabin was spotless the verandah was spotless and very nice the bath room was larger than some Ive had in the past and there was even a bath tube. the condiments for the bath were very nice .we were in our cabin just a few min and we meet out stewart His name BUDI he was great never seen him much but our cabin was always spotless never had to ask but for one thing that was a blanket fot the bed as the cabin was very cool and rob got cool but that night bodi had it right on the bed our room was always spotless never had to ask for towels or shower gel or anything as the bottles were half empty he would replace them. The first night we did not go to the dinning room as it was sailaway and we had a 615 dinner time so we had dinner in the lido and again it was very good let me say so I want have to keep saying this we have been on carnival 3 times and Princess once and the food on the zuiderdam was some of the best I have had at sea actually it was great I think I gained 10 lbs LOL I will continue later James

James&Rob Posted April 17, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted April 17, 2005 As im not a good reviewer here is a short version embarktation great food best ive ever had on a cruise entertainment some good some just plain bad casino really tight th tightist ive seen on a cruise dinning room great cabin great pools small but good piano bar Corey was really good cruise director so so ship spotless Over all the cruise was good but it wasnt the type of cruising i like not enough activities like pool games, deck parties etc. would I cruise with HAL again most likely not and this is not because the service was not good but its just not my kind of cruising I like to cruise to get away and have a great time and the zuiderdam was a great ship but If HAL wants to cater to a younger group they are going to have to add more activities .I will go back to Carnival or Princess in the future have a great day James

There's a "just right" cruise line out there for each of us, and you seem to know exactly what you want and where to find it. May all your cruises be as good - with, perhaps, a little more excitement tossed in.

I have two questions, when you say the casino was tight, do you mean small and cramped? And which entertainment was bad? How were the ports of call? Did you go on an eastern carribean cruise or western?
James&Rob Posted April 18, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted April 18, 2005 hello cheshair As for the casino question I was refering to the slots not hitting at all just eating up the money as for the entertainment question I was refering to the showes in the vista lounge it was a hit and miss the night they did stage and screen it was really good but ,but some of the others like under the board walk was like a high school production and the guy that sings and play a guitar is really bad they also had an asian show It might of been good I just didnt understand it at all we only stay for the entire show for the stage and screen one the rest we left after about 10 min some were awful, Corey in the piano bar was great though and funny have a great day James

Tschm Posted April 19, 2005 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2005 Do you happen to have a picture of the balcony? I am hoping to get 3 to 4 people on it. I know they are not very big. Thanks
imsulin Posted April 20, 2005 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Quick question to James & Rob...are you the two Southern guys we met at Sailaway, that we affectionately named "Peanut Butter & Jelly"?? You live in Georgia (I live in Alabama), and we talked about that. You guys were just so cute, and I didn't see you again until we left Nassau. I was with my daughter and her boyfriend. I was the "older woman" in a black bathing suit. (With the ever-present "Bucket of Beer".)
