JAKUEHNLE Posted February 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2012 Where does Oceania flights land on cruises leaving from Stockholm? If it is at Arlanda Airport, how much does it cost to take a van into Stockholm rather than using the ships transfer. J Kuehnle
Rare DOJO466 Posted February 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2012 If I remember correctly it's Arlanda. We took a cab to our hotel and it cost about $70 and that was with tip and we found out later they do not expect a tip. Make sure to go with a reputable cab company. As you leave the terminal head left and go to the cab Kiosk. They will hail a reputable cab for you. They do take credit cards.
dlb237 Posted February 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2012 Arlanda is the main international airport for Stockholm, and it's more than 20mi from Stockholm, out beyond the suburbs. There are other airports for Stockholm which are served by some of the European low cost airlines. If you can handle your own luggage (important *if*), there's an express train directly from the Arlanda airport terminals to the central train station in downtown Stockholm, where one can easily find a taxi. The train takes 20min and runs frequently (every 15min, 7 days a week, more often at rush hours). http://www.arlandaexpress.com/ --David
Andee Posted February 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2012 We landed in Stockhom at 8AM, used the Arlanda Express train, stored our luggage in the RR station, spent the day sightseeing, and took a cab to the ship at 3PM.
First Time 2008 Posted February 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2012 The Arlanda Express train seldom saves any money unless you're traveling solo. Fare is 260 krona one-way per person, and you can always get a reputable fare-regulated taxi for less than 520. So if there is 2 or more of you, especially with luggage, taxi makes sense. Train can save time if all the stars align (no wait for train and your destination in Stockholm is very near the train station). Make double sure you follow DOJO466's advice. Take a reputable taxi company. As you come out you will see the official taxi stand, with posted fares. There will also be lots of unreputable taxis trying to take your business, promising low fares and pushing very hard. These are always a rip-off, do not take them. It seems that anyone with a minivan in Sweden can put a "taxi" sign on their minivan and go rip off tourists. Do not use those guys, not from the airport nor anywhere else. Reputable taxi companies are Taxi Stockholm (NOT Stockholm Taxi), Taxi Kurir, Taxi 020, Flygtaxi. Make sure your taxi is one with rates published at the taxi stand. You can choose your taxi and do not have to take the one at the head of the line.
bbwex Posted February 6, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2012 We landed at Arlanda on a Saturday, and they had a weekend special 2 for the price of 1 on the express train. The train was very easy to board and store your luggage, was very fast (we beat the O bus that was at the airport and boarding as we claimed our luggage), very comfortable, and getting a taxi at the central station was a breeze. Mexfolkart Posted February 13, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2012 We came into Arlanda and took a Super Shuttle right to our hotel..they have a 2 for 1 during certain times..check it online..it was very easy. there is a general info booth right inside the terminal and when we arrived we went there, they called it for us, and it came right up. We couldn't have been more pleased. It was quite reasonable this past July. Sherry
rgastin Posted February 15, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I just looked at the Super Shuttle from Arlanda airport to our hotel (Marriott) for two people. The rate is 360 kr or $53.60 for 2 ppl. It's not cheaper than the bus/train systems, but it takes me directly to my hotel after a 20 hr day/flight. It is definitely cheaper than a taxi. With the train/bus systems you will probably have to change from the train to a bus and that doesn't sound like much fun with all our luggage. You can book it on-line in advance as well. Unfortunately, due to the Swedavia's charges for public transport companies calling at the airport, SUPER SHUTTLE SWEDEN closed down on 31 March 2012. There are now NO "van" services between Arlanda Airport and Stockholm hotels, so your only options are the Arlanda Express Train (260 SEK or 130 SEK over 65 with proof) or the even more frequent Flygbussarna.se airport coaches (cheaper at 99 SEK adult or 79 SEK senior) or an $80 taxi. As the previous writer suggests, it's mainly an issue of whether you can carry your own bags particularly via the underground connection between Stockholm-Centralen station and the T-Centralen subway hub - involving two lengthy moving walkways, and how far it is to your hotel from the subway stop at the far end. hgrca Posted August 17, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 17, 2012 We just got off the Marina in mid July in Stockholm and took a taxi from the port directly to the airport. It was 520 Swedish Kroners which was about $80.
