alaskamt Posted April 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2005 Any suggestions on the best and least expensive way to get from the airport to the port? Any current cab or shuttle prices (Super Shuttle site doesn't list any schedules or prices for Miami). Leaving on Friday to arrive in Miami on Saturday, so am doing last minute budget calculations. Snow predicted tomorrow....Thanks for any info.
trish1c Posted April 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2005 The least expensive way to get from the AP to the port is by public bus. It's about $0.50 pp to the justice complex. Then you get off, walk 1 city block with all of your stuff & get on a tourist shuttle for about $1 pp to the pier. The best way is a cab. It's about $20 + tip. alaskamt Posted April 20, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Trish1c - thanks for the reply. If I were 20, I'd so be on the cheap bus. As I am 55, I will so be in the cab. It is a vacation, after all....Thanks again, it helps with figuring how much cash to take. I leave day after tomorrow and am just fine tuning the details. Tick tick tick... Capt_BJ Posted April 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2005 taxi fare is flat rate from airport to the port. you will be tempted to save a buck taking super shuttle and than discover you paid same amount....
TrentS Posted April 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2005 The flat rate for taxis from MIA to the Port of Miami is $21... They're plentiful and by far the easiest way.
Zeno Posted April 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Another vote for taking a taxi - the flat rate makes it pain-free and easy (it was $21 = tip when we were there in Dec 2004).
hlfdzn Posted May 29, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2005 how big are the taxis? Do they have the van type that would hold 7 people and luggage? or do I need to split up my family?
TrentS Posted May 30, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 30, 2005 For 7 people you'll need to either use 2 taxis or SuperShuttle.

flyin Posted June 2, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2005 just an fyi for those reading this thread. I flew into Fort Lauderdale, rented a van for 6 persons plus luggage (Thrifty) the day before departure from Port Miami. Day of departure, dropped everyone off at the port terminal B for our cruise ship Imagination of Carnival at about noon. Drove back to the thrifty terminal on 42nd street across from the airport, and thrifty shuttle me back to the port within another 1/2 hr. No problems at all. On debarkation from the ship, I had rented an Alamo van, and Alamo had a very nice bus waiting right at the ship. We used the express debarkation process that Carnival had, carrying our own bags out and were at the Alamo counter by 9AM. Overall, that part of the trip was seamless.
