Taking the Dream this Thursday with family. Is soda free at the pool bars or is there a charge? Do we need to do a soda card(if offered).

Soda is included at meals and from the drink station on the pool deck. Sodas ordered from poolside servers/bars/lounges have a cost (including 15% service charge)

The drink station is open 24 hours. There are additional drinks besides just soda as well: milk, tea, etc.

The cups are small so people bring larger plastic cups...

DCL prefers that when using your own mugs/cups that you fill them using the disposable cups at the drink station, rather than risk transferring germs from your cup to the dispensers.

They don't seem to be very strict about that. At least I never noticed anyone saying anything, if there was even any attendant monitoring at all. I saw people at the drink station on the pool deck filling their own containers directly. I'd see people taking a drink from the small paper cups and then just refilling, even though the sign says to get a new cup each time. In the buffet line, I'd see people sticking their water bottles (the disposable Ice Mountain type) all the way up the spout of the one with the water, and nobody ever said anything.

 

The free sodas/drinks are a nice touch though, considering most other cruiselines charge you.
