Carnival Sensation - E232 & E228

It depends - do you get seasick easily? Generally the ships are quite stable at sea, but my MIL noticed the rocking a bit at night. I rather like it, myself. Midship is more steady, but it's really not that much more so.

The next question is, are you near enough to the things you expect to be doing all the time? Some people like the walk down the length of the ship - gives them a sense that they are exercising. Others want to be as close as possible to their favorite lounge, or the dining room, or casino, etc.

Otherwise, there is nothing inherently bad about your room.

Our travel agent told my husband and me that Aft is better if you want to be close to the pool and Lido deck, and Forward is better if you want to be close to the lounges, bars, clubs, etc. The downside to Aft is that you could end up hearing a lot of noise from scraping chairs and people roaming about on the pool deck and/or in the dining room, depending on how many decks above/below them your cabin is located. Looking at the deck plan for the ship you're sailing on, I saw that your particular cabins are on Deck 7, Empress, and put you one deck directly below the Ecstasy dining room. This could create a noise issue, so if you're worried about sound traveling, I would consider trying to switch to a lower deck. Our cabin was Midship on the Riviera deck and we had zero trouble with noise. I hope that helps, and good luck to you!

dining room is carpeted so no noise issue there.

You will not hear noise from a few decks away. Pay attention to what is directly above you or below you.

Being first time cruisers- you will be in your cabin to sleep/dress and shower.
