chefajax Posted April 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2005 Hi to All... Got a chance to book a cheap flight out of Heathrow at 11:50 am, but don't know if it is possible to get there from Southhampton if the ship docks at 5:00 am? How long is customs in the UK? How long before we can get off the ship? Please advise as soon as possible. Thanks alot.....Dennis
English Rose Posted April 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2005 Hi Dennis It is a 2 hour journey to LHR from Southampton. It will of course be busy for the morning rush hour and the traffic into Heathrow - not good! If your flight leaves at 11.50 (where are you flying to) and you are flying transatlantic then you will need to be there are at least 9.50. For this you should be off the ship and cleared by customs by at least 7.30 am - earlier if possible (allowing time for luggage collection etc). It can be done, but you must make sure you are booked for a very early disembarkation. If you are not flying transatlantic you might get away with another half an hour. Hope this helps you! Past it Posted April 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2005 You will be streching it. Is the discount that much to put yourself through hours of stress till you get there. I wouldn't
chefajax Posted April 20, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Thanks English Rose, May I ask you, as the cruise is in the first week of July, when do people go on holiday in England? Is the traffic always heavy in the summer? As it seems that I will be venturing the near impossible. What would be the swiftest way to go? Thank you.....Dennis
Globaliser Posted April 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2005 as the cruise is in the first week of July, when do people go on holiday in England? Is the traffic always heavy in the summer? The traffic in the direction in which you need to go is heavier when it's not holiday time, as it's prime commuter territory (particularly as you get closer to the airport). In the first week of July, most schools haven't yet broken up for the summer so it'll probably still be business as usual. I know that isn't what you really want to hear - sorry! - but an 1150 flight is pushing it, unless you have a strong constitution or have frequent flyer privileges.
