PIT TO SJU, Great fares for October?

Over the weekend, and even today RT to San Juan from Pittsburgh on US Air and also through Northwest (flying Continental) was as low as $260pp for flying in October; I was thinking of driving from Columbus to Detroit for Spirit Airlines, but would rather drive to Pittsburgh. And these fares a better than Spirit. From Columbus to San Juan is $536pp. So, there is incentive to drive the 3+ hours to Pittsburgh.

Since you don't mind the drive I would take the Pittsburgh flight. We too were going to fly Spirit originally, but are now on US Air. I do know that US Air has bigger planes and wider seats than Spirit. I want to fly my 3 hours in the best comfort possible, plus I am hoping to get to stretch out on the plane if it is not full going since we have a non stop. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Just keep in mind that USAir may not still be in business come October, and travel insurance refuses to cover them should they cease operations. Right now they have funding to keep them floating until June. I would stick with Spirit.

I would also go with Sprit, they actually are flying brand new planes out of DTW.

US Air has some great fares, but holding a cheap ticket for a airline that has shutdown isnt really a great deal.

Oh! I too would be concerned about US Air; I meant the Continental flights (but booked through Northwest). The fare $289pp and on the Continental Web Site the exact same flights were $589pp;

In that case I would book through Northwest to get the best deal.

 

Our flight on US Air is July 16. Should I be concerned about bankruptcy then?

Well, looks like the fares are back to the $550-$600pp range again. I did book through Northwest and will fly Continental from Pittsburgh to San Juan RT for $289pp;

I am glad that you got a good deal on your airfare. Under $300 to San Juan is excellent.

 

Thank you for the info about the possible merge of US Air and America West. I am going to do a search for that information.
