Shopping Portfolios

We went to the shopping talk during our cruise on the Splendor in early December. This was our first West Coast cruise but we are accustom to being offered a number of coupons and little freebies to get us into some of the local port shops.

On the Splendor the shopping host was SELLING a leatherette portfolio notebook with the coupons in it. Is this typical for the west coast cruise, or is this something that is becoming fleet wide?

We often use the shopping maps and freebies after any excursions we booked to give us basically a set of goals instead of just wandering around the port. It's not that important but something we found fun. I'm not really interested in paying out another $25 for a notebook I don't need.

Has anyone else seen this or have any thoughts on it?
