Plannin a cruise

We are thinking of going on the Oct 2 2012 Panama Canal cruise. I looked on the website and did a dummy booking up to the final purchase. I booked it for a cat F lrg OV and it came back with GTY instead of actually picking the cabin. Is this normal so far out? We don't have a PCC so how do we find one? Should we just book from the website? We have only been on one other HAL cruise and love the cruise line! We like the hydro pool in the spa, is this an additional cost? How would I find out? Any info is appreciated!

Your other option for $4 more per night would be a Category E where it shows a number of cabins available for assignment. We used a PCC for the first time on our last cruise and she was great. I guess we can't name names on this Forum but you can Google PCC and see who pops up. On prior cruises we tried a couple of them but they seemed like real jerks and so we went ahead an booked with an online company. The one we finally found is one we would certainly use again.

Panama Canal cruises are very popular-the most interesting one we have been on-so they often get booked early.

I think it is closer than you think for this cruise! When we booked our PC cruise, it was 16 months in advance and we only booked an obstructed OV guarantee. Also, you can save money if you book via other agencies than directly through HAL. We use our big box club membership and get great prices; others use online TAs. I haven't tried this but I would bet if you can't select a cabin then none are available now. Possibly after final payment some will open up?

The hydro pool is in the spa and there is an extra charge to use the spa. You can sign up before you leave or just do it your first day onboard. They often run specials the first day that can save some money, and specials are sometimes offered for the spa during port days.

good luck
