Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery VS Macaulay Salmon Hatchery

I was interested in visiting a salmon hatchery during our cruise to Alaska. Which one would you recommend between the Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery in Ketchican VS Macaulay Salmon Hatchery in Juneau?

Also, what the best way to get to each from the cruise docks?

Thanks

I've only been to the Macaulay in Juneau, but found it quite fun. It's only a few blocks from the cruise ship dock. I'm surrounded by fishing maniacs, so I found some cute gifts in their gift shop. The glass window outside where you can see all the salmon swimming by is fascinating.

Both are worth while and very different. Ketchikan is small and intimate, walkable without mobility limitations, across from it is the Totem Heritage Museum, they used to offer combo admission tickets if of interest? A nice loop walk is great going up Park, to the hatchery, through the city park then down Deermont, a great look at residential life.

For the Juneau hatchery, it's about 4 miles from the docks. It is a stop on the city bus route, pick up on Franklin St., down and across from the Red Dog, there is a small sign on the street. Or a cab would be a cheap quicker option. Very nice big hatchery, worthwhile short guided tour. Excellent viewing fish ladder.
