wdblake Posted February 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I have read that MUTS are hard to hear due to bad speakers or ambient noise. We are sailing the Emerald and would like to watch some movies. Is it worth watching MUTS?
1 HappyCruiser Posted February 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We've watched a few movies on MUTS from time to time at night and although it's sometimes not to bad the volume is keep up high so everyone can hear it from all locations. I feel it's lost some of it's initial appeal since many people now have a super large screen high def TV at home with a decent sound system. Besides that the movies that they show are mostly ones that have already reached DVD & we've probably already seen them.
A1A Posted February 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Try to avoid MUTS during the daylight hours, it is extremely offensive to your auditory senses. Night time movies under the stars seem to be better in the volume control and ambient noise department! Cheers Ken
-Lew- Posted February 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We are sailing the Emerald and would like to watch some movies. Is it worth watching MUTS? We disembarked the Emerald on February 16th after a B2B where we watched a number of movies, both day and night, as-well-as the Super Bowl. We found sitting as straight on as possible with respect to the screen...and speakers...afforded the best experience. At times the bass or volume is turned up too much for optimum listening. Asking a deck hand to adjust the sound will work. Lew
Pia1913 Posted February 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We disembarked the Grand yesterday and saw several movies on MUTS during our two week cruise. We had no problem with audio, but did have a problem with noise coming from the bar and hamburger station behind us. I suggest sitting more forward or better yet, going up one level. It all depends on weather, because we were happier under cover and that's why we were so close to the noise.

retiredldo Posted February 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2012 Hello, we watched quite a few events on the MUTS last week on the Ruby from first thing in the am to the late movies and as far as the sound goes, very good if you are straight on if you sit to the sides the sound is somewhat muted/distorted. I would venture to say that they have some form of directional speakers and part of that would be if when in port and they are playing the movies etc it is not blasting out all over the place. Overall quality was outstanding Pete
