Exit Glacier/Seward

We want to go to Exit Glacier and stay for the 3 PM Ranger talk, plus hike around and explore everything. We will have to take a taxi to the glacier -- how does it work when you need to be picked up later? I don't want to pay the taxi driver to sit and wait for a couple of hours. I guess I could always use my cell phone to call for pick up if I had reception (Cingular/ATT) out there. What have some of you done? What do you recommend, Glacier Lady?

Just tell the driver when you want to be picked up. I've never been stood up by a taxi driver in any Alaska community. :)

No cell phone service and no pay phones, so when your driver drops you off you will tell them what time you want to be picked up.

It's okay - Spring will be breaking up the ice pretty soon so we can move quicker. I hope..... any day now would be good..... :D

We have limited service from ACS and Cellular One within city limits which is to about 3 miles out of town. Exit Glacier is 13 miles out of town.The park rangers do have radios in case of an emergency.

I was able to get cell phone service about 2 miles out of Seward, but I was roaming.

Thanks, everybody! I'm not married to my cell, so maybe I'll just leave it packed in the luggage for Seward. ;)
