springbreakcruiser Posted February 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Does anyone know if the in room safes on the Destiny are large enough for a laptop. I would like to take mine but am wondering about where to put it when we are not in the room.
golfadj Posted February 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Much too small on all Carnival ships. I leave mine out and never a problem.
okgirl Posted February 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Not if it's a regular size laptop. Most people are going to say that it's safe just to leave it anywhere, but I put mine in a locked suitcase under my bed. I've also left it in the closet under my folded cloths, and under my pillow after the cabin has been madeup.
*Mach* Posted February 29, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 29, 2012 The safes on all ships measure 8X9X10 so your machine would have to be pretty tiny to fit... I'm guessing that many tablets and netbooks would fit OK but definitely not a full size laptop... :)
imluvncruzn Posted February 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 29, 2012 I bring my laptop everytime I cruise and just leave it in one of the drawers. I haven't had a problem yet!
nlktx49 Posted February 29, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 29, 2012 I always leave my purse out in the cabin, never a problem, so I think your laptop should be safe also.
bikergrrrrrl Posted February 29, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Left mine in the cabin, on the bed, table, couch, in the window w/ never an issue. The room steward would clean the room and leave it wherever I left it.
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 29, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Netbook and tablets will fit in the safe. May have to angle in a netbook. While many cruisers never have problems with missing e-gear, there are instances reported from time to time of these things magically sprouting wings and flying away. Under the bed in a suitcase is out of sight out of mind for anyone wanting a "quick lift". I would trust that assigned room stewards are savvy enough to know tht if something expensive is missing from one of their assigned cabins fingers get pointed toward them very quickly. overeasy Posted February 29, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 29, 2012 This might be good reason to bring a luggage lock. I have not cruised with a computer, but if I did I would not feel right leaving it out. I realize that a determined thief will disappear an entire suitcase if needed, but that may be a little less likely than scooping up an unguarded laptop. pacarolinagirl Posted February 29, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 29, 2012 We bring ours to upload our pics every evening. While we're out for the day, we just lock it in our suitcase using our TSA lock. :)
CharmedMom Posted February 29, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 29, 2012 I keep my laptop in a laptop case in the one closet with all the shelves, I also keep my purse int that same closet and have never had a problem. I keep our passports, money and cell phones in the safe.
fellowfloater Posted February 29, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Knock on Wood. I have never had a problem leaving things in the room. I am more worried about walking off and leaving it by accident and 2 minutes later it is History via another cruiser!
