careyo Posted May 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2004 I saw that you can order your unlimited soda cards in advance, has anyone done this? If so, is it in your cabin when you arrived? Thanks, Carey
sydsmom Posted May 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2004 I h ope so. I preordered mine and paid for it so it should be all ready when we get to the room. ( I like to prepay as much stuff as I can so it makes budgeting easier.)
careyo Posted May 30, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 30, 2004 Thanks Syd, that was my thought, have it waiting in the room, so we can start getting our money's worth right away! Carey
pattict1 Posted May 31, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2004 We were on the 5/15 Spirit and had pre-ordered the soda card. It was waiting in our room with a coke reusable cup with lid and a blue round sticker with no explaination. We finally figured out that the blue sticker went on our Embarkation cards and I never used the reusbale cup the whole trip as i didn't want to lug it around. jeanied Posted October 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2004 Can you purchase a card for a 17-day voyage? Do they just take the price of a 14-day card and a 3-day card and add them together?
dizneydawn Posted October 17, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2004 How many ounces does the cup they provide hold? Is it more than the average glass they give you for soda in the bars? Thanks!
SweetEmi Posted October 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2004 I would say the cup is maybe 12 ounces or so. I used the card with sticker option and didn't bother taking the cup around the ship with me. But it's a great souvenier of the trip. You can also buy them at any bar immediately upon embarking (which is what I did). I think you save a few cents in tax or something if you buy it after setting sail (I thought I read that on here somewhere)??? Maybe you save those same few cents by preordering...not sure. immargaret Posted October 17, 2004 #11 Share Posted October 17, 2004 I thought I remembered reading on the boards that you save the 15% bar tip by purchasing the soda sticker/cup in advance. I couldn't find the thread when I searched, so maybe I'm mistaken. Margaret

immargaret Posted October 17, 2004 #13 Share Posted October 17, 2004 Coke on the SKY, SEA, and MAJESTY...... I brought on my own Mt. Dew.
ute_fan Posted October 17, 2004 #14 Share Posted October 17, 2004 One word on the size of the coke cups -- I don't think they are a full 12 ounces, which would be the size of a can. I'm pretty sure my DH tried to fill his up with a diet pepsi he had on board, just to help keep it cold, and the entire can didn't fit. I'd guess more like 8-10 ounces. yags Posted October 17, 2004 #15 Share Posted October 17, 2004 I am sorry if I sound like an idiott, but, if you order the unlimited soda cup is it the same thing as the card? The card sounds like a good idea. I don't want to have to carry a cup with me to get something I have already paid for. Thanks for your help
SweetEmi Posted October 17, 2004 #16 Share Posted October 17, 2004 Okay...I just did a scientific experiment....lol! I filled up the cup and measured it. There is 12 ounces of fluid in there, but if you had any ice or anything - it wouldn't fit - and that was completely to the top. Sorry, forgot to try on the lid. Oops...I'm fired. I bet you're right about that 15% tip deal. If I had my receipt I could look - but I don't know if I kept it or where it is if I did. Yes...Coke is what NCL serves - I'm pretty sure on all the ships. immargaret Posted October 17, 2004 #18 Share Posted October 17, 2004 I remember Sprite being one of the options.
ute_fan Posted October 18, 2004 #19 Share Posted October 18, 2004 I know there is Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. Never did ask for anything else -- we just took on our own Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Pepsi since those are our drinks of choice.

tucked Posted October 18, 2004 #21 Share Posted October 18, 2004 I would like to know for my DW... is there an advantage to the sticker over the cup? I would think it would be inconvenient to carry the cup around everywhere... Where or when can you buy the sticker? Thanks, David
immargaret Posted October 18, 2004 #22 Share Posted October 18, 2004 You get both a sticker and a cup when you purchase the soda package. You can keep the cup for a souvinier and just show the sticker which is placed on your room card. The kids also get a wrist band so they can just show that and not have to carry around a card or cup. You can purchase the soda package in advance by calling NCL or you can purchase immediately upon getting on the ship (usually set up in the casino, and up by the pool). You can also purchase the package in any of the bars at any time. The cup is nice to use by the pool because it is insulated and keeps the drinks cold without the ice melting so fast. yags Posted October 23, 2004 #23 Share Posted October 23, 2004 I am considereing getting a soda card. What is the cost of a soft drink on the SEA if you do not?
ute_fan Posted October 23, 2004 #24 Share Posted October 23, 2004 If memory serves me correctly, an individual soft drink was $1.75. If you order one at dinner, or have a server bring it to you in the bars, there is an additional 15% gratuity charged automatically to the bill. Minybear Posted October 23, 2004 #25 Share Posted October 23, 2004 Just got off Holland American to Alaska in September and did the soda card and paid the same rate everyone did but we didn't get a cup:(. Ok we have made resv's for NCI Pride of America. Is the soda card used there? If it is we will definately preorder the soda card for me:).
