mrstinch Posted April 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2005 We are sailing on the Miracle departing August 7th. We have two boys. Our oldest (17) is deaf and I was just wondering if anyone will be on the ship with children who know a little sign language that he can interact with. montekat Posted April 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2005 My son and DIL are deaf and have sailed with us 3 times. They were even married onboard the Legend in FLL prior to sailing. I had an interpreter come on from FLL to assist with the ceremony. (It is really difficult to sign and cry at the same time LOL!) Be sure to tell your TA or PVP at Carnival that you need the Deaf Kit. It consists of a door knocker, TTY and flashing alarm clock.

LizaMM Posted April 25, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2005 The sign language intepreter was seated at my table for dinner last week on the Triumph. The ship contracted her. She was very interesting to chat with. Had been on many cruises! She was telling us that when she is working on the ship she attends whatever "functions" both onboard and in port that the clients want. She would meet with them and stay in touch throughout the journey so that if they changed their minds about what they wanted to do she could be there for them. mrstinch Posted April 26, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted April 26, 2005 That's good to know. I have requested the interpreter. They say they can't guarantee it but they do their very best to provide one.
