Cell phones on QM2

One of the FAQ answers on the Cunard website says mobile phone service is now available at sea via MCP (Maritime Communications Partner); for U.S. phones, you have to have International Roaming activated. Has anyone used this service on QM2 and how well did it work? Thanks.

I only use international services for text messages and not phone calls because of the cost. The maritime service worked mostly on a short trip on the QM 2 but I only used it as a text service so I don't know about the quality of voice calls.

Yes, it can. And also tablets and Ipads etc. It is expensive, at around 90 cents a minute. I used it for around 10 minutes to quickly grab some photos off the internet. You simply enter your name, cabin number and date of birth. Remember to log off though, so keep that page open for quick access.
