Rare TLCOhio Posted April 17, 2012 #30 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Sydney, Australia. What a beautiful city! The ship docks between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Bridge. There is so much to do just within the area where the ships docks. Lots of great tips, details and ideas here on this very interesting thread. We just booked last week for the Celebrity Solstice Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland, 14 days. We will get into Australia early and plan added stops prior to the cruise, including for around Cairns and doing the Great Barrier Reef. Glad to know that our ship will be dock "right there". Sounds like an exciting place to hang out for a couple of days, having sunset and sunrise in such a prime location, etc. We have not done that much in Carib. Only been in the Bahamas and Cuba and that was not via a cruise. We've done lots of in Europe, twenty two different countries there. Many great ports, places and cities there. Among the best for us have been St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, Bergen, Venice, Istanbul, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Kotor, fjords, Mykonos, etc. Below are just six of my photos as proof and "evidence" for why we liked it in these great places. For Richard, enjoy Bergen, it's a super charming city. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Did a June 7-19, 2011, Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. We are now at 73,417 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. Check these postings and added info at: http://www.boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1426474 For details and visuals, etc., from our July 1-16, 2010, Norway Coast/Fjords/Arctic Circle cruise experience from Copenhagen on the Silver Cloud, check out this posting. This posting is now at 65,820 views. http://www.boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1227923 From high above Kotor, this is the view of the fjord bay with the Solstice in prime position to soak up the spectacular sun on our visiting day there.: Don’t miss the sail-in and/or sail-out for Venice. This was our view from the top of the ship as we approached the historic center of Venice. On a beautiful day, as we enjoyed, this is so spectacular!!!: This picture shows the Bergen Floibanen funicular railway coming up the steep hill with the harbor, fish market, etc. in the background of this charming Norway coastal town with so much great history and architecture. On the top, somewhat right, the Silver Cloud and Costa ships can be seen in the harbor. Copenhagen’s Nyhavn or “new” Harbor is actually old and charming. This waterfront entertainment district is lined by brightly colored 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants. Serving as a "heritage harbor", the canal also has many historical wooden ships. Lots of people and fun activity!!: Our first views of Istanbul from our just-docking cruise ship as we smell the sweet blend of this historic Turkish city. YES, you can really smell how “special” is this unique city with so much culture!: This harbor view in Mykonos shows one of the charming windmills. From as early as the 16th century, these are one of the most recognized landmarks of Mykonos. The island is 33 square miles in size and has a population of 9,300, mostly in its main village.:
