Are Taxi's readily available for hire in Matzatlan?

Just wondered if taxi's are readily available where the ship docks? Can you hire a taxi for your own tour? Anyone done this and how much can we expect to pay?

There are plenty of taxis for hire at the port of Mazatlan. You will find them just on the other side of the group of port shops (in Mazatlan you take a shuttle from the ship across the port to a group of vendors near the port entrance. You can hire a taxi for a tour or just to get from point A to B. Many of the drivers will approach you when you are walking through the shops offering their tour services. On our recent Mazatlan port day (Vision 3/05), we went to Stone Island in the AM and took a brief taxi tour in the afternoon. We paid a total of $40 for approx. 2 hour tour (there were four of us in the taxi). We went in one of the "Pulmonias" - an open sided taxi. Our driver spoke very good English and was very accomodating. We thought this was a good value.
