Little London Posted March 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2012 We are arriving in Red Hook on the QM2, and have a flight leaving from Le Guardia to Chicago. How much time should I allow for getting there from the dock and what is the best way. We were thinking of a cab or should I pre book a cab? Thanks
njhorseman Posted March 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2012 It's a short trip...30 to 45 minutes in normal traffic . Taxi fare should be about $40. You can also book a car service in advance if you prefer ...about the same price or perhaps $5 more . The advantages of a car service are a fixed fare that won't vary due traffic delays or the route driven and usually a nicer vehicle. Two large car services: http://www.dial7.com http://www.carmellimo.com

Thanks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiorello_La_Guardia would get a real laugh at you frankophiling his name. In any case its about $30-35 per cab without tip from Red hook to LGA. It is a short ride without traffic(20 minutes or so). Cab availability is hit and miss at the cruise terminal and the car services that the cruise terminal has waiting will charge about twice what a local car service or cab will charge. I use Arecibo which is local car service which will come when you call. Hopefully in 10 minutes or less. they charge the same 30-35. 7187836465. Most of the other car services will also want you to call as its hard to gauge what time exactly you will get out....or they charge you for waiting.
