ann1bell Posted March 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2012 I have been scratching my head about this. Apparently Pompeii is closer to Sorrento than to Amalfi but the shore excursion to there for my Sept. 15 Quest cruise is from Amalfi. I do not understand that at all. I guess I will have to consider doing that one myself by taking the train to Pompeii from Sorrento. Any ideas? Thanks.
CintiPam Posted April 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2012 We went to Pompeii from Sorrento and taking the train was very easy. The port shuttle lets you off perhaps a six-minute walk to the train station and the Circumvesuviana train runs quite often (although husband just told me it is running less often these days because the line is short on money). On our last visit to this area, we took the train from Sorrento to Herculaneum and enjoyed our day there as well. (Easier walking, certainly!)
