Lily429 Posted March 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2012 So, what exactly is VIP boarding? If I remember correctly everyone waits in a very long line to go through security then you get your zone card....is that when you go to VIP area? Or do VIP's go through a different security (shorter) line? It seems to me that the long wait is going through security, after that it's a pretty painless wait. Can anyone clarify the procedure for VIP boarding?
H82seaUgo Posted March 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2012 depends on the port. in most, you proceed directly to vip, and you are escorted through the various points.

asalligo Posted March 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2012 In Tampa a few weeks ago I was guided to a VIP room to go through the Embarkation process and then to a VIP waiting area. When boarding started, we were taken 1st to line and boarded. We were there early anyway, arrived around 11:15, but we were at least in the first 50 people onboard. big_duck Posted March 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2012 In Fort Lauderdale it means little more then a different set of check in counters.

nlt46 Posted March 21, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2012 There were separate lines and even a separate escalator. It was as fast as I could walk. They did make it seem special. I like that. Nancy

Can anyone clarify the procedure for VIP boarding? It depends on where you are boarding. We have used VIP boarding in Port Canaveral - you bypass the lines and go directly to VIP check in which is a counter and roped off area where you sit and wait to board; you are then escorted on ship first. In Jacksonville, you go into a room and check in and then again out to lobby in a special section then escorted to ship. In Miami (by far the nicest VIP we have been too) you go to a seperate room where you check in and then sit in the VIP waiting room with TV's, water, lemonade and really nice comfy couches and chairs. You are then escorted on board. T

Lily429 Posted March 21, 2012 Author #12 Share Posted March 21, 2012 We are leaving from Miami....last year there was a massive line to get into the terminal and through security. How do you bypass and go to VIP? Is there a sign? Not that I looked but I don't recall seeing a VIP area.

Yes there is a seperate VIP to go into the building - just show your boarding pass to all and you bypass all lines (entrance, security) - it is great!!! gogetter Posted March 21, 2012 #17 Share Posted March 21, 2012 My Miami VIP experoence was awesome, easy and by far heads and shoulders above Tampa. we walked inot the terminal, saw the VIP sign with NO ONE in line, i tried removing the srap thingy and got yelled at by security, went and got a Carnivl rep 10 feet away who opened it. Went straight to VIP, a separate area........just keep asking for VIP if you miss the signs.....waited maybe 3 people and then did not have to wait to board at all. Left theroom and just went to board...not a problem.....whole process maybe took 15 minutes the week of Feb 12 on the Valor..... akk i can say is GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in Miami..... Guest LoveMyBoxer Posted March 22, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 22, 2012 In NY you have a separate secruity line and then are escorted to a private room with comfy couches, cookies, coffee and lemonade. Then you are escorted onto the ship.

jiggs Posted March 22, 2012 #23 Share Posted March 22, 2012 on our recent cruise out of FLL on the Freedom, we skipped the security line that had to have 500 people in it at the time. Find the VIP ropes and follow them. From Cab to Cabin in 15 minutes...no joke. This was with a 2 year old...through security, to counter for keys and signatures, picture and boarding. Done. VIP was such a perk since we chose to go and hang out at the beach in FLL and go to the ship at prime time.
decemberroses Posted March 22, 2012 #24 Share Posted March 22, 2012 Does a Junior Suite count to get VIP boarding? We will be in a Junior Suite in May.
truecruiser Posted March 22, 2012 #25 Share Posted March 22, 2012 as one poster said, it depends on the port. in some ports, it's clearly marked. in others, you have to ask the attendant at the door. still in others, if the line isn't long, they won't man a separate VIP security line until the line for pax starts to grow. in this case, you will need to wait on the regular security line, but the wait is short.
