Am I going to regret this?

I upgraded from a cozy midship ocean view room on riveria to a slightly aft balcony on the upper deck. I noticed it was under a bar, which I *think* is a piano bar. It was the last 6A and I was trying to get a lower price. When I looked at the deck plans, I thought how bad can a piano bar be- right? Now I am worried that it is going to be horribly noisy late into the night. We will have our dd who will be 15 months. She usually goes to sleep with music and is not a terribly light sleeper but I don't want blaring music all night long. Did I make a mistake?

I have been thinking about changing my room but to do so will require an upgrade and I wanted to see if the price would change any. Right now the difference between a 8A and 8B is $50, which is not horrible, but I have in my head that its easier to get price drops with the 8A because they will price match to the BL rate (or they did last time anyway) and it’s the lowest category balcony so it can be the carrot to get people from OV to balcony. And yeah, I guess I am cheap but $50 is several DODs. How long, realistically can I wait and still have a chance at buying an upgrade? My sailing is April 29 and there are lots of price drops so I am guessing its not selling that well. I am kind of hoping for another price drop that will pay for the upgrade.

:D

I would contact your travel agent or Carnival direct whoever you booked with. There are rooms available that arent shown online. Explain what you did, they might be able to find you something else. If not I would pay the $50 so as not to stress over this. It is your vacation and as the parent of a 15 month old you deserve it. Go and enjoy.

Your mileage may vary, but on the four cruises I've been on, the piano bar is not that popular a place. I'd be far more worried to be under the disco or the casino.

That was my initial thought, but I am not a piano bar kinda gal. DD does love music to go to sleep, but I doubt they play "twinkle twinkle little star in the piano bar all night." :D

It would be helpful to know what exact cabin you are in.

Plus if you are on the Upper deck (deck 6) you will be OVER anything on the Promenade (deck 5) not under. And if you are only slightly aft of the mid ship elevators then you wouldn't be over the piano bar, however if you are slightly aft of the aft elevators the piano bar is on the starboard side of the ship and the comedy club is in the Degas lounge which spans the entire back of the ship, so you might have some problems.

The piano bar is not nearly as popular now that it is non-smoking.

YEs it is right above the Blues Piano bar, I do think that will be loud, and I dont agree with other people saying the piano bar will not be busy, depending on who is playing in it, it could be rocking till 2am. I have seen it happen a lot, and that would really be loud for you above it trying to sleep

this is hard to answer because i have been on sailings where the piano bar has been dead, and i have been on sailings where the piano bar is the absolute place to be. you won't get the "thumping" of bass like you would from a disco, or the "dinging" of the slots as you would from a casino, but i am sure you'll hear something. midship to aft is a good spot. if you can switch, get a cabin sandwiched between 2 pax decks. that's you're safest option with a baby. good luck.:)

Yep.......6447 is just about right smack above the piano itself......the thing is.......I've been on these boards for a long time and I've sailed on the Conquest 7 times and I don't think I've ever read about there being a problem with noise from the piano bar. Or on any other Conquest class ship for that matter.

Lots of my friends like to sail in the aft balcony cabins on the Upper deck and I haven't heard them complain of the Comedy Club in Degas either.

If you could move to the port side you would be above Vincents and there is rarely anything in that lounge late in the evening. Or if you could move forward so your cabin would be along the Promenade walkway that would be quiet.

I love being on the Upper deck it's so convenient since I spend a lot of time on the Promenade.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

Honestly I would think that it would be way better then a room on the Rivera.. On our last cruise DH and I were in room 1408, on the Victory. It was SO LOUD! I was woken up each time we were coming into a port (the room would almost vibrate) and even several times during the nights at times we were just cruising.. I called the front desk to ask about the noise, and I was told that it was always that loud and they were sorry I wasn't told before. They offered ear plugs! That was the LAST time I will ever cruise on the Rivera deck! I want to enjoy my cruise.. not wear ear plugs.. I think you made a great choice, anything has to be better than that experience
