Staying at the Queen Mary

Anyone ever stayed at the Queen Mary pre-cruise in Long Beach, CA?

How were the accomodations? Were there interesting restaurants and bars nearby? Would you stay there again?

Also, please give me an idea of the cost. Thanks.

To expand on stones902's response: the "rooms" are actually the original cabins, and were kept historically accurate... at the expense of a degree of comfort(no air conditioning, portholes instead of windows, old TV's, exposed pipes in the head). That said, if you are a fan of nautical history, you'll love it... exploring this historic ship after the crowds go home was absolutely fascinating(and verrry spooky).... you can get into places you can't during the day.

The restaurants onboard are pretty good, esp. Churchill's... and if you like, you can grab a water taxi next to the ship and cross the bay(5 minutes) to Fisherman's Village and The Pike where there are PLENTY of new restaurants(for a good time try Bubba Gump's).

Anyone who calls themselves a fan of cruising owes themselves at least one night aboard this Grandmother of them all... I can't think of a better way to begin a cruise.
