Ft. Lauderdale to Port Canaveral

Has anybody ever gotten off a ship in Ft. Lauderdale and back on another ship in Port Canaveral (Orlando) the same day? Is it possible and if so what is the best way to do it (rent a car, take a transfer, etc..)?

Its a 3 hour drive from Port Evergladres to Port Canaveral....so if youre off the ship early, you will have plenty of time to get to the other port. I guess a car rental would be the least expensive. A transfer service would be quite costly.

I agree that it's definitely doable as long as the first ship gets into port on time. I would recommend doing self-debarkation so that you're one of the first off the ship.

 

I think a rental car would be the least expensive way to travel between the two.

we did it with no problem 6 months ago. Took about 3 hours to drive. We are platinum so we were first off the ship after self-debarkation.

As I live in Florida, it depends on the time of year depending on traffic. Although it is only a 3ish hour drive, in high season here through September, it may get a little dicey.

If your ship is back as scheduled you would have no problem, traffic and all.

We have done it but with one day in between just to be safe. We have been on 2 cruises that were delayed getting back on the scheduled time. One time was for a medical emergency and the other was a mechanical problem. We got back at 6 pm and 8 pm respectively. We were fortunate that we drove to the port. Those that had flights were SOL. If the flights were thru Carnivlal they made new arrangements. Everyone else was on their own.
