maroyalt Posted March 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2012 Has anybody ever gotten off a ship in Ft. Lauderdale and back on another ship in Port Canaveral (Orlando) the same day? Is it possible and if so what is the best way to do it (rent a car, take a transfer, etc..)?
Harris Jeffer Posted March 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2012 Its a 3 hour drive from Port Evergladres to Port Canaveral....so if youre off the ship early, you will have plenty of time to get to the other port. I guess a car rental would be the least expensive. A transfer service would be quite costly.
navybaby1113 Posted March 24, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2012 I agree that it's definitely doable as long as the first ship gets into port on time. I would recommend doing self-debarkation so that you're one of the first off the ship. I think a rental car would be the least expensive way to travel between the two. angel2wyld2 Posted March 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2012 we did it with no problem 6 months ago. Took about 3 hours to drive. We are platinum so we were first off the ship after self-debarkation.
ST PETE CRUISE GAL Posted March 24, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2012 Has anybody ever gotten off a ship in Ft. Lauderdale and back on another ship in Port Canaveral (Orlando) the same day? Is it possible and if so what is the best way to do it (rent a car, take a transfer, etc..)? As I live in Florida, it depends on the time of year depending on traffic. Although it is only a 3ish hour drive, in high season here through September, it may get a little dicey.
1PCcruiser Posted March 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2012 If your ship is back as scheduled you would have no problem, traffic and all.
miched Posted March 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2012 . We have done it but with one day in between just to be safe. We have been on 2 cruises that were delayed getting back on the scheduled time. One time was for a medical emergency and the other was a mechanical problem. We got back at 6 pm and 8 pm respectively. We were fortunate that we drove to the port. Those that had flights were SOL. If the flights were thru Carnivlal they made new arrangements. Everyone else was on their own. . maroyalt Posted March 25, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Thank you everyone for the replies. we could possibly have one day between sailing depending on which order we do the two cruises.
