Royal Caribbean Teen Program

We'll be traveling next year on the Navigator with a 23 month old and our two 16 year old girls. The last time they were on a cruise they were 12 and had a blast in the kids program. They are excited about the teen program, but from what I observed, there wasn't much going on for teens and it didn't seem very supervised at all. There was only 1 teen in our group at that time and she didn't participate at all, really.

Can anyone tell me what the teen program is like?

Just got back last week from a multi-family trip on Freedom of the Seas with three 15 year old girls and two 12 year old boys. With it just moving into Spring Break time and there were a good number of kids participating in both the 12-14 and 15-17 groups. Some times with the teen programs, they will cancel events if not enough people show up to participate, but, from what our kids said, that only happened once or twice all week given the number of kids on board. They did the usual things, scavenger hunts, karaoke, dances, teen dinners, shows. Our girls pretty much attended all of the night time events. The boys attended most, but were not really interested in the dances they had.

Unlike the younger age groups, the supervision is more relaxed as the kids come and go as they please. With that being said, the staff was still pretty diligent about watching who came into the teen rooms. The couple of times we went into the teen lounge trying to catch up with our kids, we were quickly approached by the staff.

Thanks...that information is really helpful! My girls can't wait!

You also may want to check out Michele's website, where she has the RCI Compasses for many of the teen groups. While they may not have your particular cruise, the teen activities are pretty much the same ship to ship.

Here is the address

Hi, im 15 myself, so should help :s

I loved the RCI teen club, I went every night making many friends from all over the world. The supervision was relaxed but on the first 'meet and greet' night we got told the rules and if they were broken we would be chucked out, there was, for us, a strict rule about boys and girls as well a swearing!

There is activities such as rock climbing competitions, ice-skating parties, scavenger hunts, battle of the sex's, casino night, teen night club parties and so much more!

But, as somebody else has said, when adults or people the staff don't know try to come in they approach them quickly. Although an 18 year old did get in one night, but when they saw him with a bottle of buds beer he was chucked out lol. It's so much fun, they'll love it! I'd tell them to get to the 'meet and greet' on the first night as everyone gets to know each other there and don't be afraid to talk to people, everyones in the same boat, literally!

When we were on Enchantment - the ages were broken into 12-14 and 15-17's - but sometimes - such as PROM NIGHT - the club became 12-17. And it depends on how many kids are onboard because our sailing before they were all combined the entire week.

The highlights were the prom, gaga ball, pool party, crazy tag, scavenger hunts and dance party at the pool.

My daughter said the nights that stand out the most for her though are the prom and the pool party.

And yes - they do crown a prom queen and king. They had to walk the red carpet and be judged by their peers. Lol

Hi,

A question to the teens:

were there different nationalities and languages? Our foster son speaks German -- and only a slight bit of school english...he's worried that he won't understand anything. Oh, he's 13 years old.

Thanks,

Stef

Hi, when I went, there was a German girl and many Italians that only spoke slight English. They had no trouble making friends :)

It depends on the ship/itinerary.

Typing as my 13 year old is talking;

On our Enchantment sailing - no, but that was out of Baltimore.

On Grandeur out of Fort Lauderdale we did have kids who spoke other languages.

On Freedom and Indy - we had more kids from different countries.
