Thanks, Sue, for your running commentary, and especially for the photos of the International Cafe. I love their shrimp salad :) I am looking at the bridge cam right now... it seems you are still docked. Have a fantastic cruise, and I look forward to your future posts. It won't be much longer for us now - May 3 from Brooklyn :D !

Where did you get the idea there was a seafood buffet?

There always used to be a seafood buffet on the first night in Horizon Court. We enjoyed it in Feb 2010, but it has since been eliminated. We missed it on the 3/11/2012 sailing.

Hi Sue. Thanks for the great pictures of San Juan and the Caribbean Princess. It brings back such great memories of our first two cruises. Glad everything is a go for your cruise this week. Have a great time. We'll be back on her July 1'st out of Southampton.

I very well recall them, but they were eliminated some time ago. That's why I was surprised to see it mentioned.

Didn't you just post about 6 months ago that you thought they were still doing this on the CB?

You're either on the Caribbean or the Emerald, correct? Last year on the Emerald they had it and I believe it's still happening on the CB too.

Hello...Just got off the RCCL Explorer, and are booked for next April on The Caribbean Princess.

I must say, a great review and, sensational photo's. About the best photo's I've seen anyone ever post.

I need to get the same camera you're using. If you don't mind, can you tell us the make and model of the camera you've been using?

Thanks again for your input on the cruise and, the terrific photo's and quality.

Dave

Amazing that you could resurrect what I said. I thought perhaps they were still doing it on the CB; no first hand knowledge. I was on the Emerald in June of 2010 and to me that's a long time ago.

You have a lot of days at sea, so I remembered. I've heard so many conflicting things about it. To be honest, anything is better than having to cook it myself, so if it is seafood awesome, if not, it's still a meal I don't have to cook for myself. :D

My second cruise, in Jan. 2008, was on Caribbean Princess, and I distinctly remember the "Sail Away Seafood Extravaganza", and an extravaganza it was! The Alaskan King Crab Legs were very memorable :D I am sorry they did away with it now...

Hi Susan

Thank you so much for starting and posting this thread - I think you have made a lot of people very happy!!!!

We leave UK on Wednesday morning for our 8th April back to back and have been reading all the other roll calls for similar dates, a very worrying time for all. Didn't help that we received a phone call from the hotel we had booked for Wednesday till Sunday to say that our reservation had been cancelled:eek: fortunately they have been able to put us in another hotel, we were beginning to think we might have to try and book into the 'tent' that someone was going to organise on the jetty!!!

Hope you have a fabulous week and thank you again so much for using your valuable internet allowance on re-assuring us all

Regards

Maureen

Good morning all, We are pulling into St. Thomas right on time at around 6:45 a.m.. Departure from San Juan was flawless last night. I sat out on the back deck by the adult pool to get a bird’s eye view of the Carnival Victory depart. I missed the Adventure depart- they must have left while we were doing the lifeboat drill at 8 p.m.

The CB was pulled in bow forward, so we had to back out of the port. There is something fascinating about watching a 950 ft ship back up down a long narrow channel. We didn’t start moving forward until we reached the tip of Old San Juan where El Morro fort is located. That was quite a beautiful sight, all lit up at night.

Will try and upload a few pics. As soon as the ship finishes docking, We’ll be off for a day in St. Thomas. So far, the weather is sunny and nice. Looking like a great beach day.

See you tonite!

Susan

Hi Dave- I keep losing Internet connection so I’m having a hard time replying individually. Thanks for the picture compliments. I’m a novice, hobbiest photographer. I have two cameras. The main one I’m using is my new Sony TX10 digital. It is waterproof so I got it for snorkeling, but it takes great out of water pics, too. I also have a Canon T2i DSLR, but it’s too heavy to carry around for everyday use. Some of my close-up shots are with the Canon, especially of the ships in port. Most of my pics have been taken with the Sony, so far.

I will try to post more tonite depending on the connection. I seem to get kicked offline when I try to post messages

A couple of comments...

Yesterday's embarkation was lightening. We got in a taxi at the Radison Ambassador at 11:55 and were having a Dos Equis on the balcony at 12:25! Unbelievable, we never waited.

I've never seen a ship so clean or crew members so eager to serve/work. Of course yesterday was the easiest turn-around day ever for the state room stewards, ours literally had nothing to do during the afternoon and evening except greet guests. I'm kinda tall, and have always seen dirt in places the stewards can reach, like the shelf that has the life jackets, the top storage shelf and the top shelf in the bathrooms. These are spotless as are all the walls and carpet! All public areas just shine. It seems these guys were quite productive for the last two weeks.

Although the lobster claws may be missing from the buffet there were still steamed mussels, shrimp and delicious calamari steaks (which I'll take over the old lobster claws any day).

Beautiful day here in St Thomas and it's almost time for room service to bring our breakfast.... I'm sure glad they put those breakfast sandwiches on the room service menu!
