Avril Posted April 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2012 I really want to try NCL for my next cruise :D but my Mom (who I normally sail with) isn't so sure. I'm looking at the Epic which I think is a super cool ship. :D Mom can't get past the hull (mostly the "hat" as we call it) and says it's a real ugly ship (I disagree). Honestly, I think she's more worried (for lack of a better word) about the "Freestlye" Dinning and the fact that she's heard negative things about NCL (but you can find negative things about every cruise line right?). I was wondering, does anyone have any interior pictures of the Epic (public rooms, promenades, outside decks, cabins, etc) so I can show Mom how awesome she is and that you "Can't Judge a Book By It's Cover" (or in this case, A Ship By Her Hull)? By the way, I think she's beautiful (I saw her docked at the POM a few months ago)!!!! :D Thanks!!!! :D

david_sobe Posted April 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2012 No offense to Carnival but ALL their ships look the same. Epic stands out even in the NCL fleet. I love her hat and how it looks like she has giant sunglasses on from the front. Epic has 21 restaurants which is amazing Have your mom check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaDoKjNlct0&list=FL6I68YU_gCCnh-QoFo9eUVw&index=4&feature=plpp_video
nathand95 Posted April 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2012 If you click on the link in my signature, you can see my review of the Epic. I have a good bit of pictures in there. I know there is alot of "food porn" ;):D I was nervous about it at first going with my parents because they are very traditional cruisers and not into the whole new modern scene, but they LOVED the Epic. A year later, they are still raving about it! You will not regret it if you cruise on her!
sdmike Posted April 4, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2012 Lots of info in my signature, with plenty of pics. The first two links are especially good. She can also look at my photo album here: http://public.fotki.com/ritchiefamily/san_diego_family/2010-pictures/epic-cruise-public-/

che5904 Posted April 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 5, 2012 Tell your Mom not to worry about freestyle dining. If she's ever eaten in a land restaurant, she's already experienced freestyle dining. Go to the restaurant when they are open (marked in the dailies). Tell the host/ess how many in your party, get seated, order, eat. If you want a more specialized dining in the specialty restaurant. Make reservations (suggested), tell the host/ess who you are, get seated, order eat. Nothing to it. As for the hull being ugly, she'll never see it once she's on board. ;)

debnjoe1438 Posted April 5, 2012 #11 Share Posted April 5, 2012 That "hat" may be ugly, however the ship is wonderful. Lots to do, great staff and crew, great food, and entertainment which surpassed the one Carnival cruise I was on.
