cole Posted April 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2012 I have attempted to find this answer on this board, but have been unsuccessful so decided to start a new thread. We are 6 adults (with luggage) who will be arriving by Amtrak in Vancouver and would like to book transportation to the cruise port rather than take several cabs. Is that an option? B. Urban trekker Posted April 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2012 Don't have a ready answer for you but just one question - while most cruises go from Canada Place a few early season and late season ones go from Ballantyne Pier can you confirm which port you are sailing from as that will make it easier for some of us to try and answer your question. Rare martincath Posted April 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2012 The train seems to be insufficiently popular to have any Shuttle companies meet it; you could book a scheduled pickup with a local Limo company but it seems to be extremely poor value compared to just cabbing it though. Two regular cabs should be enough even if you have large suitcases, and will run you roughly $10 per cab. Cost of Star Limos (I don't have an opinion on them, they just have an online quote service so you can get the price without having to call!) would be $85 (SUV) or $90 (Van) + 12% tax + Tip (and possibly a fuel surcharge) from any downtown Vancouver location to either Ballantyne or Canada Place. There are always tons of cabs around the station at Amtrak arrival times - you won't wait long. So even if you have soooooooo much luggage you can only fit 2 people per cab, you're looking at maybe $40 tops including tax & tip for a cab - about a third of the price of a scheduled limo... Cole It's such a short distance, a pre-booked transfer is going to be starting at probably $60+ for a 6 person vehicle; two taxis will be $10-12/ea
cole Posted April 5, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 5, 2012 Great advice about the cabs - even if we have sooooooo much luggage it will take 3. Thanks for the quick response and help! B. Cole
Putterdude Posted April 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2012 You could save some money by asking the cab line attendant for a mini-van cab and that will take all your luggage and up to 4 people...you may have to wait for a few minutes for one though.
