crossing the ocean 1912 vs 2012

An important fact that was not detailed is that in 1912 ocean voyages were primarily a means of transportation. The focus was on getting to a particular port faster than the competition.

Thanks J and S. My recollection might have been a result of the extensive graphics with the text which compared today's cruising vs. 1912. Somehow lost was the different purpose of the travel.
