KNITWITS Posted April 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Anyone have any experience with cave tubing with 8 and 10 y/olds? They are both athletic into soccer and little league and love swimming in both pools and (cold Pacific) ocean. We'll be in Belieze in August and not sure how high or fast the water will be through the caves.
Grumpy9117 Posted April 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2012 I would go with VIV Tours since their tubes have mesh bottoms. Shouldn't have any problems.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2012 We did it back in September with our 3 year old with no problems at all. She loved it. She even held the tarantula and ate the termites. ;)

Rare mitsugirly Posted April 12, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Tarantulas and termites? We have been cave tubing 3 times and never seen either. Who did you take the tour with? We were with .bz Everyone takes the same "tour" and walks the same path to get to the water, so it's up to your guide what they chose to show you I guess. Some don't show as much or give information, while others make it fun and informative. The termites taste minty (you could live off them for 2 days for a food source, if you were lost in the jungle) :D The tarantula just hangs out in his home along the path every day and they bring him out for tourist to hold. cruisergrandma Posted April 13, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2012 Wow - that is cool! We have always gone with Major Tom and never seen either of these.
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 13, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2012 Wow - that is cool! We have always gone with Major Tom and never seen either of these. Did they ever let you taste various plants along the way? There are plants that you can eat too that will help with survival. They let us try this plant that gave a bust of something that watered your mouth and was neat so you wouldn't dehydrate. They also showed you the plants that grew there that they use for ink in money. Lots of neat things along the way to the caves. :)
cruisergrandma Posted April 13, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2012 No we did not taste plants but, we did have cashew wine to taste on the bus!
Rare mitsugirly Posted April 13, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2012 Yea, they gave us cashew wine when we were having lunch. We ended up buying a bottle, but for some reason when we got back home and tried it, it just didn't taste the same. :(
