Bahamas in Winter

I'm trying to plan way ahead for a January cruise to the Bahamas. I know it isnt as warm that time of year, should I just assume none of the excursions that are waster based will be appropriate?

Jess .... All depends on how cold of water temperatures you can stand. To me they are way too chilly in Jan/Feb. :o

 

All is not lost! On warm sunny days that time of year it's often very nice to spend time in the sun on the beach. :)

We just went this last May and you could do Catamaran rides, sunset cruises, etc. We went to the Hilton with a day pass and laid on the beach all day. It was wonderful but no one was in the water.

Well the good news is I am a cold weather northeastern gal ... so hopefully we will be leaving extremely cold weather when we go and it will feel a lot better :)

I've been researching this topic myself since I'm looking into doing a Bahamas cruise in January. It's tough to find reliable water temperature data for the Bahamas, but most reports I've seen say that water temps in January hover in the low 70's. That's about the same water temperature as New York and New Jersey beaches in mid summer. Of course, the air temperatures will probably only be a few degrees warmer than the water in the Bahamas in January.

I've been to the Bahamas in early January and the water was a bit cool but you could still swim. Chances are you'll be able to enjoy it as well.
