zsazsagaboa Posted April 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Hi we're going on our first cruise in August aboard the Serenade and I'm trying to get an idea of the extra costs on board. For example I've read that you can play Bingo or see a movie but I can't see any mentions of whether these are free or not. I'd be really grateful if someone could give me a rough list of the activitys that have an additional cost. Thanks.:)
Rare BecciBoo Posted April 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2012 The best way to get your question answered is to go to the RCCL site and read what's included. Bingo is not included in your fare. It costs around $35 to play, I think that gets you 3 cards. Movies are free in the screening room. Some are free on your T.V. in the cabin. I think you can pay for some too just like at home. Drinks are all free with the exception of bottled water, liquor, cocktails, beer and freshly squeezed orange juice. Food is free in most cases, except for the specialty restaurants, Ben and Jerry ice cream, entry fee to Johnny Rockets and the malts. Most other entertainment is free, except playing the casino:D

Soft Drinks are not free, Specialty Coffees are not free, if the ship has StarBucks that is not free. The only free drinks are ship's regular water, tea ( iced/hot), regular coffee, milk lemonade. Orange juice from concentrate at breakfast, and Apple Juice at breakfast. Some ships also have a few flavor waters served in the Windjammer that are also free. Food is free in most cases, except for the specialty restaurants, Ben and Jerry ice cream, entry fee to Johnny Rockets and the malts. If on Oasis or Allure breakfast at Johnny Rockets is free and the rest of the day there is a charge . Most other entertainment is free, except playing the casino:D Excursions offered by the cruise ship are not free Also recommend you read through RCCl's website to fully understand what's included and what it not . coordinator23 Posted April 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2012 The Sea View Cafe located one deck above the Windjammer is free. It has "differing" hours, so check once you get on board. It is usually open for lunch while at sea, and it opens later on port days. My husband and I enjoy having lunch once or twice a cruise up there. You can choose to eat outside or indoors (once you place your order inside). I like their fish and chips, my father likes their rubin, my husband likes several of their items, and my mother likes their salad. Nice little cafe, tucked away where most people don't find it until later in the cruise, if at all. It is directly behind the kids wading pool and slides (which is why I think most people don't stumble upon it readily). Enjoy Serenade, she is one of our favorites. blueblock Posted April 12, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2012 In addition to the things already mentioned, spa treatments are not free, laundry is not free, and there is a charge for some of the classes in the gym. But it is possible to have a wonderful cruise without paying for any of the extra items aboard.
zsazsagaboa Posted April 12, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Thanks for the info, you've been been very helpful. I must have been looking in the wrong places on the Rccl website.
Sequim88 Posted April 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Photos are not free either. And if someone offers a drink upon boarding or at sail away it too is not included and there will be a charge. Something that often trips up new cruisers. CruisinDawn Posted April 12, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Also as far as drinks are concerned, if it comes in a pretty Royal Caribbean glass your paying for the glass!! Ask for the drink in a regular glass and it's cheaper. :D BonVoyage Dawna
