Skipper's Mom Posted April 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Just back from a week on the Westerdam. Some "brainiac" decided that it would be a good idea to place the hair dryer in the upper drawer of the vanity/desk and screw it down as well. It is hard wired so you are limited in range. Someone prior to us decided they'd had enough and the dryer was no longer attached to the drawer so you could put it up on the vanity. You also had to hold the button in to operate or it would turn off. I made a comment on the end-of-cruise survey. Let's see if they read it and change back to a regular dryer. This one was extremely weak. Glad I didn't have thick hair. Note to future cruisers -- bring your own dryer!

CRUZBUDS Posted April 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2012 DW has never found an adequate hair dryer on any cruise ship. She always packs her small regular one.
dutchgal46 Posted April 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I had a hairdryer that you described, yes it is not as powerful as the blue ones. It took longer to dry my hair, I bet you they had to secure them,I guess some went home.

Rare WriterOnDeck Posted April 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Last fall on the Maasdam the hair dryer had the European plug, which was nice because I didn't have to unplug other stuff. It was fine for me (not thick long hair). And I bet that by using the Euro plug, it lessened the theft likelihood.
Typhoon1 Posted April 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Bringing your own hair dryer is the best idea. The HAL dryers are not of the best quality or sometimes poorly located.
