We received both a lovely fruit basket and two of the big bottles of water with the casinos compliments.

We really enjoyed the casino and quickly got our 1500 points to qualify for the free drinks.

I emailed OPC about my upcoming cruise and got a reply back from Michael that I was getting g $75 in casino cash, apparently no basket this time, I would love to get the strawberries again though, they were yummy, did not care too much for the fruit in the basket.

At the risk of sounding like a real newbie (which I am not) but I am a newbie to the casino world...on previous cruises, I did not really get into gambling due to a few factors, smaller kids and less "funds" available! But this year the kids are also looking forward to playing in the casino and I've been reading that 1500 points is the magic number for drinks in the casino - how many dollars for point - is it 1 to 1?

Not 1 to 1. I think it is different with different games.

We are really good at "churning" a couple of hundred dollars winning and losing the same money over and over again. I can't explain it, but it just seems to happen.

Slots - $2.50 = 1 point

Video Poker - $5.00 = 1 point

Carnival's casinos are excellent at giving you a lot of play for your money.

In November on the Splendor we got the fruit basket with wine, 2 bottles of water, and a $15 photo voucher.

This was what we got in September on the dream and in January on he Legend. I called today and Michael says we get the premium package again this next week.

So about 3,750 dollars in the machine to get a free drink card...

Not really. If you are winning along the way, then you are putting that money back into the machine, so depending on your luck, you may spend $1000 or less or more in actual cash.

No way I continue playing if the machine is just constantly taking cash from me - which happens to me on RCI - to the point I am usually done with machines the first night.

Carnival machines and tables have been very kind to me. Well until the last night on the ship last time, I went completely cold. I could have placed a bet on what my day my birthday is and I still would have lost.

My turn to ask a noob question - do you get to keep the basket the fruit comes in? :D

You can keep it, but i"ve always left it behind because I ddn't feel like walking off the boat looking like Little red riding hood on the way to her grandmothers and the basket never fit in any of our suitcases.
