South Side Mo Posted June 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2004 1) did anyone use their cruise email address? I am trying to leave emergency numbers/addresses and I'm thinking my regular AOL address would be fine - are there any advantages to the cruise email address? Also, how was cell service from Cingular one in Alaska (Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway)? the map on cingular website looks like the calls might be going through..... Guest nhrich Posted June 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Just use your AOL address. The only advantage to the NCL e-mail address is to NCL...the $3.95 per e-mail that they charge. Sorry, can't help with the Cingular question. Rich 12/94 Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam - W. Carib 01/96 Norwegian Dreamward - Carib 01/97 Carnival Inspiration - E. Holden Farm Posted June 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Has anyone used any other cell phone provider besides Cingular in Alaska? Our service is with Alltel and it doesn't look like they have service there yet. Any advice would be helpful. We are cruising on July 18th. Thanks! Crusing on the Star - July 18th and can't wait! South Side Mo Posted June 14, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Thanks to all of you - I guess the cell phone is a matter of timing/weather Also thanks for the 3.95 per email info - I'll be sure to take that off of all of my emergency numbers
deb1835 Posted June 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I had to change the system setting on my phone to analog in Juneau. That was the only place I could get a signal other than Seattle and Victoria. STAR gazing in Alaska NCL Star 5/30/04 Carnival Destiny 4/
paula1250 Posted June 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2004 I went on the Sky to Alaska two years ago. I had no problem with my cingular phone. I was alble to talk right from the ship. I was at the outside buffet talking to my kids in Chicagoland.
