Not seasick exactly

I went on a 7 day cruise a few years back on RCCL, Liberty. I never got seasick, not even a little, but I did feel the ship moving.... even though everyone assured me I wouldn't. It didn't bother me in the least though.

After we returned, for over a month, I still felt as though I was on the ship. I felt a slight rocking motion, swaying and dizziness. It was the weirdest thing, and I feel like I'm not explaining it right. While it didn't bother me when I was on the ship, it DID bother me when I was back on dry land. Now we're booked for a 10 day, so I'm starting to worry. Is there anything I can do on the ship or after to either prevent this or make it go away if it happens again?

I believe its normal to have your sea legs linger. You didnt get sick on ur cruise and that is what is important. A month is excessive but I would probably go to your physician before the trip to see what they could prescribe for when your a land lubber again! :p

You explained land sickness. Not sure what you can do about it, but you explained it perfectly. You can try to google it and see if there is any information on how to prevent getting it, or how to make it better. After a cruise I always have that "swaying" feeling when leaning back in the shower to rinse my hair. Never feel it (other than regular movement) on the ship, but always after I get home. As for people saying you won't feel any movement on a ship, I don't get it, you ARE moving so how could you never feel it?? I may not get sea sick but I do feel an occasional sway or a bump but again, that is feeling it :D

I am surprised everyone told you that you would not feel the ship move. Ships move...in heavy seas, they can move a lot. I love feeling the ship sway gently at night. With more movement, I feel badly for those who get seasick.

I have had the swaying land sickness feeling. I seems to get it less now than years ago when I was a new cruiser. Maybe my inner ear has become accustomed to land v sea...or maybe my inner ear has become less sensitive with age. If your symptoms do not interfere with your life, try to think of them as a reminder of the trip.

My sister has a friend who has cruised often, but about 3 years ago she started to suffer the symptoms you describe following one cruise. She was diagnosed as having Mal de Debarquement Syndrome, and it has never gone away. However it hasn't stopped her cruising because when she's on board a ship she feels fine - it's only on land that it affects her!

I was diagnosed with Mal de Debaruqement Syndrome 6 years ago. When it was at its worst-it was life debilitating! Just the diagnosis took many, many visits with doctors, specialists, and therapists. I was actually diagnosed first by my eye doctor.

When it was at its worst-I wasn't able to walk down our hallway without hanging onto the wall. I was diagnosed as having MS, as having mini-strokes, so on and so on! I was absolutely terrified!! So thankful that these were misdiagnosis!!

Since my diagnosis, I have certainly improved but still deal with some "movement" but it is not every day and it is tolerable! Let's see if I can explain this syndrome a little. Have you ever been sitting in a car and the car next to you backs out and you feel like you are the one moving? Well, that's what this syndrome is like. A feeling of movement without you participating in the movement-it so so scary and so strange! It is not something to be taken lightly!

After many discussions with specialists etc., the best thing for me is to walk. I walk all the time! It apparently helps my equilibrium. The good thing is I am able to cruise again. I have cruised twice since then and am going again this June.

I do worry but I know it is something that I can handle-I just walk and walk and walk!!

Good luck to you!
