parpar22 Posted April 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2012 Hello All, I will be doing the Southampton to New York Transatlantic on May 22. Has anyone done a transatlantic in late may and have any info on how the weather will be then? How rough does it get inside the ship when out at sea. Thanks! May 2011 it was smooth all the way, barely a wave to be seen, many days were foggy however. Arrival into New York (we sailed past southern Manhattan to the West Side Terminal, rather than Redhook) was spoilt by rain. As you know, from the voyages you've done, anything can happen, more so on the North Atlantic. On my TA's, it has never been really rough... well, rough enough for me  ... Bon Voyage! Anytime there can be any kind of weather on the Atlantic. On one of my first crossings on QE2 we were braving a near hurricane in early May. I've traveled in November and the ocean was as smooth and quiet as a whisper. QM2 is a good ship to be on in rough weather, however. She's very stable. The experience was quite a bit more of an adventure when on QE2.
Sauer-kraut Posted April 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2012 Cruised from NY on May 23, 2006 and we had no trouble at all, however, the week before us they had some really big swells and people had difficulty walking the hallways. Barf bags were at the ready all over. So you just neer know. ;)
