Seminolevet Posted April 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2012 We are sailing on the Island Princess and will be in Juneau from 6:30 to 4pm. Couldn't get a super early whale watch, so we plan on taking a cab out to Mendenhall to hike up to Nugget Falls at 8:30am before our 10:45 Harv and Marv whale watch. They say we'll be back by 2:45 at the latest. We really wanted to hit up Tracey's crab shack before leaving. Is it unreasonable to expect to do it all comfortably and make it back to the ship? Don't know what kind of lines such a popular eatery would have. Thanks all!
Assateague Island Princes Posted April 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2012 You should have enough time - Tracy's is right next to the pier where HAL docks (next to the parking garage/library right at the water). You can even order it "to go" and take it to eat on board - we did that one year! And the crew does it all the time! Don't sweat the small stuff - you'll so love H&M's whale watch and finishing up your day in Juneau at Tracy's will be the perfect ending to the perfect day! BTW - even tho the lines may be long at Tracy's they move fast! Just be prepared with what you want to order when you get to the front of the line. Enjoy! chipmaster Posted April 22, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2012 3 things is doable, my only thought is see if you can get a whale watch Mendenhall combo. Many of the whale tours leave out of a port pass mendenhall so you'll be doing a double back and forth and can safe a good few minutes by doing a combo that stops there either going out or coming back from the whale watching. Seminolevet Posted April 22, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted April 22, 2012 We actually kind of are doing a combo. Taxi drops us at Mendenhall for a couple hours, then H&M are picking us up direct from the Visitor Center to save time. Best I could do with our times and tour availability. Thanks for the positive feedback...I tend to over think things sometimes. It really helps to hear that it'll work out. And I really like the option of doing take out if necessary! These are three "musts" for us in Juneau!
JNU WW&FISH Posted April 22, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Your all aboard will be 330pm. When you get in your shuttle to come back to the cruise ship ask the driver to drop you off near Tracy's. That'll save a few minutes. You are on Island Princess which usually docks at Franklin dock. It's a short walk from Tracy's down to your ship. Tracy's is located by the parking garage/library building on "Shack Row" She's the shack in the back. traveljuneau dot com has some great maps if you want to get an idea of the area before you visit.
