SPA Deck On Conquest

We had a Spa deck cabin on Glory, Conquest's sister. To be honest, I didn't care for it. Since we had rain on our cruise, the balcony really couldn't be used much since there was no overhang and the drainage was poor. When we did use the balcony, the sliding door wouldn't stay put. Finally, we were near the elevators. Camp Carnival is one deck above and, since there is only one elevator on Camp Carnival's deck (supposed to be limited to persons with disabilities), a lot of people came down to Spa deck to get elevators when leaving Camp Carnival. (Think kids jumping their way down the stairs and parents with loud voices.)

Better than Upper deck? Probably. We had two deck 6 cabins on other cruises and had noise issues with both of them. On deck 6 you're above the casino and the lounges, and they can get fairly noisy. The Camp Carnival noise level goes down significantly after 11.

  • 5 weeks later...

Oh dear. We have a spa deck balcony booked on the Conquest for our August cruise. (we upgraded from the upper deck too!)

Sure hope I don't regret it...

The way I see the deckplans, Camp Carnival is more forward than the cabins (above the gym/spa) so I wasn't thinking that there would be noice concerns.

We've booked 1110 which is a bit away from the elevators...

Oh well, we'll be cruising so it won't be "that bad" LOL

Hmmm. We had a balcony on spa deck on Conquest, and we didn't have any problems with it. There indeed is no overhang above, and I even called out to my mom from the public deck above, while she was leaning on the rail of the balcony. But I think only during sailaway were there people hanging out there: above the room, looking over the sides. We never had noise problems from above. Never had noise problems from Camp Carnival. The only noise issue was that I could hear the dinging of the elevators, because we were so close to them, when everything was quiet. Not that big of a deal. My dad & I would use the gym showers, right around the corner. Those shower stalls are very large, much bigger & nicer than the one in the room.

The only problems with the location is getting an elevator after getting back on the ship in port, and getting an elevator during debarkation is almost impossible. An elevator eventually arrives at deck 11, but it's already full of people who got on it below, and are staying on it for the ride down. That is an issue for all higher floors. You also have a long ways to go to get to the dining rooms, the theater, and other nighttime entertainment venues. Those are the main reasons why I prefer deck 2 to the higher floors, not for any noise issues.

Thank you! This puts my mind at ease a bit. Would you mind telling me which stateroom you had that you could hear the elevator ding a lot?

I didn't care for the no roof and once or twice was a little annoyed when someone on the deck above wanted a conversation with me. If only I had picked a cabin forward from the one we had, a windscreen would have eliminated the latter.

OTOH, I think the cabins are a little larger and the balconies have sliding glass doors instead of the normal ones.

You can see some pictures of the cabin beginning around #46:

and the rest from that cruise here:

Thanks for the pictures Sargent Schultz!

I am wondering which stateroom you were in? (Will I be "forward enough" for the windscreen? :) )

I had a spa deck cabin on the Triumph...in that case it was 1115. LOVED it! Second favorite cabin ever(aft wrap 8448 on Conquest won out!). No cabins across the hall from you. Few guest on your hall at all actually. Just a few steps to the Panorama and Lido deck! Throw on a robe and a few steps is the steam rooms and sauna! Straight down to the Promenade to see the shows! I loved that cabin on the Triumph Spa deck!

Our last cruise we were in room 1108 on Conquest. We liked the spa level, but we were the first room without the wind shield, so we could see people above us. It wasn't a huge problem. We didn't have issues with noise and enjoyed the access to the pool.

We have 1104 booked for a July cruise.

We had 1114. There was a wall right outside the door, but it was close to the opening to the elevators. The ding wasn't loud at all, and it was only occasional. Everything had to be quiet to hear it, and I was the only one who could hear it, sleeping on the sofa bed. The folks don't recall hearing it.

The rooms are indeed larger than regular balconies. These used to be the very popular family oceanview rooms, with floor to ceiling windows, and were 230 sq.ft. Carnival decided to convert these unique rooms into very un-unique balcony rooms. We had booked it as the OV room, then it was converted to a balcony before sailing, and we didn't have to pay the extra. The indoors part is 195 sq.ft. instead of the standard 185, with a 35 sq.ft. balcony. 10 extra sq.ft. extra isn't much, but it is more. And they have sliding glass doors to the balcony unlike the regular balconies.

Hi Mom - if you're going on the 19th - I guess we'll be neighbors. Our 13 year old grandson is going with us. Are any of your kids his age?

For the last 4 cruises I have been in room 1102 on the Valor. Hands down my fav place to be. I am booked in the same room in the liberty

You can literally walk out the doors on deck 11 and have access to all outter decks. There a not many rooms on the floor and it is QUIET. I love the sliding glass door.

I know everyone has their own oppinions, but I can not say enough good things about spa deck rooms

Hi Dave!

No, we are sailing on the 26th so you'll be getting off just as we are getting on :) We have five kids but only two are travelling with us this cruise. They are 6 and 8. (We took the three older ones last year ;))

Enjoy your cruise!!

pardon me for a dumb question. what is the "wind screen" that people are talking about?

It's not a dumb question. I was wondering too. If you check out the first link that Sargent Schultz gave earlier, there is a pic on that page that's pointed upward from his balcony, pic #52. People on the deck right above can look right down and talk to someone on that balcony. But to the left of that is some kind of glass barrier (which would be the wind screen) that would prevent people from being able to talk to anyone on the balcony right below. It would be annoying to have strangers talking to you from above while you're on your balcony. That only happened once on our cruise, when I did it to my mom. It would seem to me that 1102, 4, 6, & 8 will have that wind screen above.
