nolababe504 Posted April 26, 2012 #26 Share Posted April 26, 2012 We go on the same ships because we live less than 5 minutes from the port!!! I can't see paying for airfare when I can be on a ship in 5 minutes!!!
Kato27 Posted April 26, 2012 #27 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I know how easy it is to get hooked on cruising! ;) Wow you drove from Montreal, thats awesome. We should drive to Baltimore from here its only an 8 hour drive. Save all that money on air-fare too. u should give it a try:) On the way back we crossed over in ontario, thousand islands. If i would have flown from here to baltimore, i would have had to take 2 planes, since there are no direct flights. And the flight would have cost me almost as much as what i paid for the cruise. Cost me like just over 200 dollars in gas back and forth. Aurori Posted April 26, 2012 #28 Share Posted April 26, 2012 In 2 weeks I will have been on Triumph 4 times, and I'll be booking another cruise on her for June and possibly July as well. Don't really "love" the ship so much as I love one of the girls working aboard, hehe. :D
cruisenanny Posted April 26, 2012 #29 Share Posted April 26, 2012 We have sailed on the same ships before, but never more than twice. As others have said it is usually because they are within driving distance of our home. Twice on RCL Nordic Empress, X Horizon, NCL Dawn & HAL Noordam. Next summer will be our second time on the Miracle also. Loved them all :)
Wolfie48 Posted April 26, 2012 #30 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I am curious to know how many times you've sailed the same ship and why? We just sailed on the Dream, and we really liked that ship. I am already browsing cruises on it for next year different itinerary. Would you choose the same ship again or choose something different for a change? DW and I have sailed the Paradise 5 times mostly because of it was convenient. Drive to port take a 3 or 4 day cruise or back to back for a good price. We have been on the Spirit 3 times and the Splendor 2 times 3 in September.
flyawayca Posted April 26, 2012 #31 Share Posted April 26, 2012 No matter where I cruise I have to fly to get to port so because of that I've always picked different ships to get a new experience. But one of these days I know I will repeat a ship because I'll want to go to a particular island and I doubt I will have a problem with it. I've enjoyed all the ships I have been on :)
T. Advisor King Posted April 26, 2012 #32 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Have sailed with Carnival since 1991 and have never been on the same ship twice. If I'm going to get on a plane and fly half way across the continent to get on a cruise ship, I'm certainly not going to choose the same ship and itinerary more than once. As for comparing the same ship to renting the same tropical beach house, I guess that's true if you arrive and depart on the same day of the week with the same length of stay, the food is the same both times, you go to the same beach or other day trips exactly the same. You walk out your beach house door in the morning the same time and come back the same time in the afternoon, etc. Not even close.
spunkyhungry Posted April 26, 2012 #33 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I would never choose the same ship unless the itinerary and/or price were really worth it. It's much more fun for me to try a new ship rather than experience the same thing again.
vacruisin Posted April 26, 2012 #34 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Our upcoming 30 June cruise on the Freedom will be our 2nd consecutive cruise on that ship. DW wants to do a different ship every time but due to scheduling conflicts with the inlaws availability to keep the kids, we had to move our originally booked cruise on the Valor up a week so we ended up with the best intinerary on the Freedom again. DW was originally a little disappointed at booking the same ship that we'd just been on 2 years ago but as the trip gets closer her "disappointment" has turned to pure excitement. As for me, I could care less if it's the same ship everytime; as long as I'm not at work and the ship has booze and a casino....I'm happy! :D
Cupcrazy Posted April 26, 2012 #35 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I've never sailed the same ship twice. Totally not against it though.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted April 26, 2012 #36 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Itinerary is most important to us. We've sailed the Spirit four times--once to southern Caribbean and three times to Alaska. We've grown quite fond of that ship! We've also sailed her sister ship, the Pride and will be on the Legend next year.
glrounds Posted April 26, 2012 #37 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Look at my history . . . THREE must be the charm and leaving in a few days on the SPLENDOR for my 3rd on her.:D
scgamecock Posted April 26, 2012 #38 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I am curious to know how many times you've sailed the same ship and why? Triumph 2x Fascination 2x Ecstasy 2X Liberty 2x and booked another Valor once, but again in 2 weeks. Why? Price, itinerary, cruising experience on that ship. Cristallo Posted April 26, 2012 #39 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Fascination twice because we live about 30 minutes away from the port. No flying and we get dropped off so no parking to pay.
Out to sea! Posted April 26, 2012 #40 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I am curious to know how many times you've sailed the same ship and why? We just sailed on the Dream, and we really liked that ship. I am already browsing cruises on it for next year different itinerary. Would you choose the same ship again or choose something different for a change? Twice. RCCL Mariner of the Seas (still my favorite ship ever) Eastern and Western and Carnival Liberty, Eastern and Western. Loved both the ships and their itineraries. Philly Steve Posted April 26, 2012 #41 Share Posted April 26, 2012 For us, it's all about avoiding the hassle and expense of flying so we embark from a port we can drive to. We were loyal to RCI and NCL out of Philly and cruised Empress of the Seas and Norwegian Majesty multiple times. Even though it restricted our destination to Bermuda, that's not a bad thing. For us, it's all about cruising. Now, we're cruising out of Baltimore and will likely be repeat cruisers on Enchantment and, perhaps, Pride. RWolver672 Posted April 26, 2012 #42 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Have been on six cruises and all of them on different ships. To us, a different ship is just as important as different ports.
Miller_KC Posted April 26, 2012 #43 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Choosing a ship is at the bottom of my list of considerations. I find dates that work then choose based on price and ports. If all things are equal I would pick a ship I haven't been on over one I had. We've repeated once and it was a happy coincidence to repeat the ship from our first cruise, the Imagination, after a few years of experience. So far there is no single ship that I would actively avoid repeating.
livestocruisetoo Posted April 26, 2012 #44 Share Posted April 26, 2012 We have sailed the Victory twice, once going north and once going south. The Fantasy twice, the crew, the ship and most of all New Orleans were great. Will be doing the Pride a second time this year. Love the ship, the crew and it's a 20 minute drive to the port. Will most likely do the Destiny twice, once when she was 'single' and after she becomes Mrs Sunshine.
okgirl Posted April 26, 2012 #45 Share Posted April 26, 2012 I've sailed on 14 Carnival ships with 4 of them being multiple times. The most frequently visited ship is the Conquest, I've cruised on her 7 times and have my 8th booked in September. I agree with others though, the frequency has less to do with which ship it is and more to do with price and location. For many years Galveston has been my homeport and since I prefer the Conquest class ships with regard to size and layout it was only natural that I've been on that ship the most. bunchesofun Posted April 26, 2012 #46 Share Posted April 26, 2012 We went on the Pride last May, and in June booked for the Pride this coming December. That is because Baltimore is a port we can drive to from Ohio in a day. We might consider going out of Charleston SC as we could drive there as well, but for now we like the Pride. It seems not too big, not too small.
grgsgrl Posted April 26, 2012 #47 Share Posted April 26, 2012 The Victory is by far my favorite ship, mainly for the venue. Have been on her 2 times and we are going again next year. Did the Glory twice. All the others have been single shots :)

CRUISE4JANE Posted April 26, 2012 #49 Share Posted April 26, 2012 This will be my 2nd time on the Conquest. It is convenient for me, no flying to get to the ship. If I had to fly to get there, I would then pick another ship. When the Inspiration was in New Orleans way back in 2000, I cruised on that one. Sometimes a RCC or Norwegian will be here, but never at the time I am planning to cruise. I do wish they had other ships to try.
