L_K Posted April 30, 2012 #26 Share Posted April 30, 2012 2 bucks each time, no matter how much/little we order. Same here
SMSACE6 Posted April 30, 2012 #27 Share Posted April 30, 2012 depends on how much they bring, but as it is usually breakfast for one or two, or light lunch, it is more often 2.00, sometimes 3 or 4 dollars, rarely more.
starly94 Posted April 30, 2012 #28 Share Posted April 30, 2012 I tip depending on how much we've ordered. But it's usually between $3-5!
corkyanige Posted April 30, 2012 #29 Share Posted April 30, 2012 I actually bring $2 bills specifically for tipping as its just more convenient than $1 bills. I use them for all my tips (room service, shuttle, porters, etc).
vacruizer Posted May 1, 2012 #30 Share Posted May 1, 2012 LMAO I should have clarified. lolThe trays seemed heavy. 1 sandwich and a slab of cake. Seemed heavier than I expected them to be. The delivery dude was of average build. I worked room service for a hotel back in college. I'm still paying for it with back and shoulder issues almost 20 years later. It's tough work. Especially when someone orders a case of beer on ice. I can remember my hands going numb from the weight of the trays. As to the subject at hand - we usually give $2 for small order like coffee and bagels and $3-5 for a larger order.

boowaaccaa Posted May 1, 2012 #33 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Another thread suggets $2 bills. Soulds great to me. Wonder now if $1 coins would be better. Great Novelty item could be a John Deere Penlight from another tipper thread. Coins are no good becuase any coin in a currency that is not from a country where they spend their money is not acceptable to spend. It can only be used in the country it is issued from. We are from Canada and have had $1 coins for a long time - it is usless anywhere but Canada becuase it is a 'coin' -- therefor too heavy - unlike bills that are transferable at banks. CorbinCatFan Posted May 1, 2012 #34 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Usually we do $1 per item which works out to about $2 - $4 per order.
CapsR1 Posted May 1, 2012 #35 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Always tip $2 to $5 per order.
CoasterJoe Posted May 1, 2012 #36 Share Posted May 1, 2012 I've always tipped $5.00 for the occasional breakfast or late night snack. If someone is bringing my lazy @ss food so I don't have to go to the lido deck its worth $5.00.
Gypsywych Posted May 1, 2012 #37 Share Posted May 1, 2012 $2 for morning coffee, $3 if they remember the cream and sugar. $5 for lunch or late night snack. Once I tipped $10 because all 6 of us ended up in our room @ midnight starving.
TITISSA Posted May 1, 2012 #38 Share Posted May 1, 2012 I never know what seems fair. Suggestions? $5 dollars
jonz Posted May 1, 2012 #39 Share Posted May 1, 2012 Wow--- Before our first cruise, I read on CC that $1 every time they come is acceptable. We always took alot of ones just for this. We have carried that on since, not thinking. Never thought to change it and increase it. I don't eat out alot so just don't tip alot anyway in everyday life. We will start tipping $2 for now on. I think $2 is appropriate for morning coffee (is usually what we get from room service). Thanks CC posters for the heads up.

H82seaUgo Posted May 1, 2012 #41 Share Posted May 1, 2012 so amazed that people tip more for room service than their sit down served dinner.
askimdog Posted May 1, 2012 #42 Share Posted May 1, 2012 We never used room service on our first 2 cruises. This past cruise we thought we oughta give it a shot. We had some bagels and coffee and juice. We tipped 2 bucks. It was okay, but does not compare with buffet or MDR, if I am up, I'll go get better food.
