Where is Douglas, AK?

How far is Douglas from Juneau? Is it walking distance, a taxi ride, bus???? Was looking at the 4th of July activities - sounds great!

I think it's about 5 or 6 miles from the Cruise ship docks by road, less if you could swin the channel. Its actually just west of Juneau. Easy Taxi or bus ride. There is a good public bus system in Juneau and it does go to Douglas.

O' it's not even 5 or 6 miles! You just get off the ship...hang a left at the dock and walk a ways through the town and across the bridge and you are in Douglas! When your boat is in port from one side of the boat you will see Juneau the other side is Douglas! They say the firework display is in Douglas but really it is in the channel equaly viewable from both sides!! Douglas is mostly residential but has a nice beach for the family called Sandy Beach. It is a great little town!! :)

Once you get over the bridge you are in West Juneau on Douglas Island. You need to drive or walk another couple of miles south to get to the town of Douglas. I don't know the exact distance, but to the town or to Sandy Beach it is easily 5 or 6 miles from the cruise ship terminal. That being said, you are right the show could probably be seen easily from the ship since it's mostly over the Channel.
