Help Wanted Galaxy Sky Suite Or Concierge Class

We are booked on Galaxy 2.2.06 and have a concierge class cabin 1109- We have always traveeled concierge class on Summit so know what to expect but on investigation find the cabin is smaller than that on Summit so may like to upgrade to a suite - the only suites left are sky suites 1051 0r 1048 - has anyone any experience of these or cabin 1109 so that we may compare.

If we decide on a suite do we miss out on all our concierge class benefits like bathrobes pillows etc? We would appreciate any help

It's really an apples to oranges comparison, isn't it? Like you, we enjoy the 192 sq ft CC cabins on Millennium class ships (e.g., Summit), although we hold out for aft cabins in all cases. We have sailed Galaxy before, and yes, their CC cabins are only as big as the Category 2 cabins on the Millennium class ships (172 sq ft).

Further, as we are accustomed to the aft CC cabins with the 200 sq ft verandas, the 41/42 sq ft of the CC cabins on any of the other ships or elsewhere on the Millennium class ships would be a bit of a disappointment.

As a result, we've booked a Sky Suite for our upcoming Galaxy cruise since we've now become spoiled, and that seems the only cabin that will approximate that to which we've grown accustomed. More to the point, we booked one on the Sky Deck, since these are the only ones on Galaxy with large verandas.

In short, if you're used to aft CC cabins on Millennium class, you'll need to book a Sky Deck Sky Suite to approximate the same total space on Galaxy. If you're used to other CC cabins on Millennium class, any of the Sky Suites on Galaxy will do, since the cabins are about 25% larger, and the veranda space is also larger at 70 sq ft. Any step down from that for a cabin with a veranda and you're in an M-Class Category 2 accomodation equivalent.

Once again, however, I'm still not sure what I'll do with the butler. Our room steward attended to whatever we would need in the CC cabins. The Galaxy runs from Galveston offer a couple of at-sea days to make any last-minute plans that need made. The coffee from the Cova first thing in the morning will be nice, but otherwise???

We stayed in SS 1060 on the Galaxy which is similar to the 1048/1051. I have a link to pictures of our suite in my signature below that you may want to inspect.

We were in a suite on the Horizon exactly one month ago and observed that the CC amenities and suite amenities were kept separate. However there were alot of common amenities/perks between these two cabin categories--the priority embark/debark, bathrobes, personalized stationery, fruit, welcome champagne, VIP invitations, etc. But the pillow menu is not offered to the suites. On the other hand the suite gives you bigger space, a bathtub, and a butler.

On the other hand, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice (SS or CC), you will have to evaluate the actual price difference to see whether it is worth it.....Check out this link: cabin photo index which may assist in your comparison (keep in mind that the Galaxy and Mercury cabins are virtually identical except for decor so the Mercury cabin photos will be helpful to you, too.).
